Thanks for the tooth advice guys, i will look into finding one as soon as i can!
As for the camera, it's a little Ricoh GX100. I picked that because i knew if i had a big DSLR i'd never bother bringing it anywhere. The Ricoh is cool because it has all the manual controls of an SLR but still fits in my pocket. it also has a super wide 24mm lense which i love. i don't know why all cameras don't have wide lenses!
If you're wondering about the 'fish-eye' photo at the top, it's just a bunch of photos stitched together using autostitch.

i posted this somewhere else too but i think it's relevant to this thread, so i'll keep it all together:
Galaxy dealer in Jiansu province
It's in Yi Zheng (仪征), a small town just east of nanjing.
You can call these guys
Liu Yanbin (刘研宾) on 1390 5253 033
Yang minmin (杨民民) on 1395 2522 551
They're very nice people and very helpful, but i don't think either of them speak english...

Felix, thanks for the link to the Chinese thread about the Galaxy. The liquid-cooled version looks just like the Puzey/Pitster bikes, so Galaxy seems to be the OEM after all. Ironically, the motard is my first choice here in the desert southwest as our offroad terrain is pretty much the consistency of fine beach sand--great for quads, not so good for street-legal dirt bikes. My commute is almost exactly 45 miles round trip to work and back, and I don't think the knobbies that the Pitster enduro comes with would be comfortable.
'damo and 'marty, your Puzey distributor went belly up? I hope fxracing can fill in the void as the prices mentioned for comparable Japanese bikes would make the Puzey an attractive alternative, especially after the favorable write-up in ADB Magazine.

#14 Long-distance petrol tank for XTR06-25-2009, 05:40 AM
Hey i just saw this on another forum:
http://bbs.0514.net/ShowPost.asp?Pag...hreadID=444821
it's the 15 liter tank i'd been told about a while ago. I'm not sure if they're available to the public yet, but they look alright! i'll ask the guys when they're back from Tibet.
if you want to see some pics from their trip so far, it's easier to browse them through this forum (it's 14 pages rather than 172 like the one i posted above):
http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...&extra=&page=1
the pictures start to get pretty interesting around page 3.

The 15L tank looks great on the bike and should give it incredible range! Only down side is it may be a little vulnerable in a tip-over but as long as it's made of good plastic then it shouldn't be too bad.
I really love the pictures of those areas and remember them well. There are lots of beautiful places in the world to ride but none like the Himalayan Mountains for both the scenery and people there.

If I'm reading this right, one of those guys took a tumble into a meter deep ravine and broke/fractured his leg. He's recovering in the hospital and the tank held up fine.
Again thanks for those links it was a good read. I loved the pictures of everest base camp. ohhh and all the girls too

Just heard from forum member zippy500 that the water-cooled XTR250 is now available in the UK under the CCM brand name.
