I don`t know where to put this, but I am wondering if we could use our knowledge base to make some sort of database, cataloging Chinese engines and their relation to Japanese big four engines.

    Suzuki DR200(199 cc,SOHC, 2V,20hp,AC,single)....Qinqi (various)
    Yamaha TW200(196 cc, SOHC, 2V, 20hp,AC,single)..XT250 Zongshen (variou/s)
Honda XR185 (Kinlon, Lifan, many others)
    Honda XR200 (195cc, SOHC, 2V, ?hp,AC,single, 6sp)
Honda CRF150/230 (157/223 cc, SOHC, 2V, ?hp, AC, single, 6sp)? Loncin, Lifan?
Suzuki GN125/150/250 (249 cc, SOHC, 2V, 22hp, AC, single, 5sp) Various, Hanjue, Qinqi, Wonjan, many manufacters fo 3 wheel carts?
    Suzuki GZ125/150/250 (149 cc/249 cc, SOHC, 2V, 22hp, AC, single, 5sp) Wonjan, ?
Honda CB250/CMX 125/150/250 (238 cc, DOHC, 2V, 18hp, AC, parellel twin, 5sp) Lifeng, Qinqi, Sundiro, Lifan, Jialing, many others ??
    Yamaha YBR 125 Yamaha, others?
Honda Helix 150/250 (244 cc, ?, 2V, 14 hp, LC, horizontal cylinder, CVT) CFMoto
    Honda CRF450X....Asiawing
Yamaha Virago 250......(249 cc, SOHC, 2V, 23 hp, AC, 60 Vtwin, 5sp) Lifan, others?
    Honda XR400.....Asiawing
    Honda VTR250/Honda Magna 250 (249 cc, DOHC, 4V, 31 hp, LC, 90 Vtwin, 5sp)......Chunlan
Honda CT90/CT110, Jialing, almost all seem to copy this one.

    Any others to add?

Me thinks this new Honda XR300E engine is made in China maybe the whole bike?

    I could be wrong?

The rumor is this is destined for the south American budget market, and will be made there.

It could be made in China for export only later. I doubt it will ever be registrable in China as of the costs of registration of anything over 250cc. The extra 49cc will cost around 5000 RMB extra on the road.

    iamcanjim,

Might be less confusing if you used the actual displacement and cylinder configuration of the engine to describe it. eg CMX/CB250N 234cc twin.

Interesting bike. If it's not made in China, it certainly could be. I think the Japanese and Chinese manufacturers are going at it hot and heavy in the developing nations. There's A LOT at stake there and it should be pretty fierce.

Forchetto could probably pitch in something here as well as Culcune.

I'm thinking about adding a blog type page to MCM that would present this type of info in a cleaner manner and make it more web-search index friendly. Hmmm...

This info is not easily available so I think it would be good to have a knowledge base. Then if someone asks about a Zongshen Sierra 200GY we could say `20 hp, uses Yamaha parts`

Something like the wiki format would be good for managing all the cross referencing. A Chinese bike wiki would be very handy, and probably a little chaotic.... just like the industry .

    Cheers!

Indeed. Organizing the sections would have to be very carefully thought out.
