Are these safe to use without worrying about melting wires and starting a fire. It says 35w and I thought the stock headlight was 55.... but wanted to run it by some people and double check, I have the qingqi 200

HID lights should be safe to use if installed properly. There is a question about their DOT legality but they should work fine on the bike and I know people who have installed them on their QingQi with great success.

The power consumption on an HID does not relate to it's light output like a halogen bulb. They are two different systems. You will get MUCH more light out of an HID with less power draw and the run cooler to so you should not have to worry about the reflector melting.

If you do install it, please let us know how it works.... and don't forget pics!

The XF200 comes with a 35 watt headlight bulb, I changed mine to a normal H4 55 watt bulb and it works fine, plus alot more light.

If they're the same type...it will hook in just like stock. There's nothing different about the design of the Silver Stars besides their output. I use them in my Versys and they are a great improvement. Only downside is they are expensive and don't put out as much light as a HID.

I have them in my car and compared to stock there is a large increase in output. But I would like more for my bike

I have been thinking about modding my headlights with HID as well. I have seen people add the HID lights on light bars, but not completely replacing stock lights.
    My concerns are:

    1. Heat
    2. power consumption (little alternator in my bike, barely able to charge up the battery).

Would be great to see what others have done...

Once cycled on and up to temp they draw very little power. I just asked the seller you linked to if they have any with a color temp close to 5k. I may pick one up if so and give it a whirl.
