Looks like they dropped the price on the xf. 2,299 $. Thats much better. You think they're selling them for less because those megelli's finally showed up and they need room in the warehouse?

    1,899 $ for the 2008 model.

That's actually a great deal on those bikes! I wonder if there's really any difference between the 08 and 09 models to justify the costs? I don't recall any major changes between the years.

It is certainly possible they're trying to make room for the up and coming 250's. As far as North America is concerned.... 250 is the magic number. Either way, the 200's would make for a great short range commuter or starter bike and at a great price.

If they were smart, they would have kept the prices at this level over the past four years and they wouldn't have any of this excess inventory left over.
Silly importers, bikes are for riders.

I ask them what the difference was between the 08 & 09, why such a big price difference and no upgrade to disc brakes on the rear for the 09 and got this.

"We donít consider to bring in rear-disc version for XF/XP 200. The reason is the braking system is very good right now on XF/XP. When you add disc brake to rear, the cost will go up at least $200, but the help is not much."

They raised the price from the 08 to the 09 about 800ish. Reading the paperwork at their site and comparing the stats, it looks the same. When Kawasaki upgraded the ninja 250 they put out a list of what was upgraded. I just don't get it.

So they basically didn't answer your question and have no reason for the price difference other than one is an 08 and other is 09? My guess is they were built to identical specs and I think they only had two orders from QingQi but I could be wrong. Either way, if the spec were the same, the costs per unit should be close to identical and if they're trying to clear inventory then the 800 dollar difference is kind of a doggle.

Oh well.. its still a good bargain and, IMHO, a better bike than the DR200 for less money... especially if it has a good USD fork!

I certainly like the new price, but I feel sorry for the early adopters that got scalped for the extra $$$. that's just not a nice way to treat your customers. And, consider the dealerships that are stuck with product that they hoped to actually make a profit on.

CC is right on the mark about entry level pricing. They wouldn't have leftover 08s with this pricing. It's almost as if they just tacked the cost of homogulation onto the first years shipments. Now they have just set themselves up to fall. Q should now expect that nobody will buy the first year Megelli - 'cuz they price may plummet next year. This may be particularly troublesome in a year when many consumers are in a finacial holding pattern. First quarter street and dual sports sales are down 25 percent compared to last year. Those two catagories account for 53% of the US powersports business.

    Peej,

Good to hear from ya mate! How are things going!

I'm getting a little old in my ripe 33 years but if I recall correctly, I think the VERY earliest adopters got a fair shake on the introductory prices (~2,100USD) but then as soon as QLink realized the bikes were selling, they jacked it up some 20-30 percent!

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I understand businesses are hard to run but jeez... how about actually caring about the products you sell and the people you sell them to?

Makes me want to sell them myself.

Right CC, I like the Qingqi bikes but I've got Qlink on my short list, and I want to believe that I can "trust" them.

The new price structure does make sense though. Showing a customer 5 bikes from 2600 to 3200 is a pretty nice spread. Especially when you consider that good 50cc moped go for 1600 to 2400 and good 150cc scoots go for 2700 to 3200. People start hopping catagories when the prices are that similar.

I think this is the case.

fwiw, I picked up my 08 for 1899. Now they just need to hurry up with the 250 variant so that I can pass this one to my wife. :)

Besides purchasing a rack and top case with a universal mounting plate, none exist that I know of. You can, of course, always get creative.
