Hello, long time since the last post. The threaded fitting that goes inside my plastic gas tank broke, therefore the screw can't fit into place and the left side plastic (protection and stetics) moves all the time I ride the bike. I was thinking in making a POXIPOL thread ....what do you think? Will it last? Or it has no point as the motorcycle vibrates that thread will broke?
    Thanks
    Alejandro

P.S. : the piece that broke because of overtightening was like a small yellish cylinder like bronce but it wasn't with threads inside and some kind of legs that locked into the plastic of the gas tank. It's like a 8mm section I believe.

I think that POXIPOL adhesive is similar to the stuff the North Americans call JB Weld.

They fix all sorts of things with this and I believe you can drill and tap it as if it were metal, so I think you could repair a thread with it.

Someone told me to proceed like this.Clean the surface ,put a stud with oil, fill the hole with JB Weld and after the bond gets hard take out the stud, and you will get the new thread.

    What do you think?

Yes. I heard of that procedure as well. You sort of mould a new thread.

JB weld may work temporarily but I don't believe it will be a good permanent solution. As soon as you tighten they screw, it will probably strip the JB Weld out.

If there are no other options it may be worth a try. I'm curious as to how well it will work.
