    Rhatt,

    Howdy from the Mid-Atlantic South?

In order to get a new key or lock set for a bike it's helpful to let us know what type of bike it is (brand, name, model). If you're not too worried about security for the bike then it's possible a generic ignition key/switch set may suffice. These are available from many many parts suppliers and maybe even a place like radio shack.

I recommend posting this in the "Maintenance" section with more specific details and you may get better results!

    Paz,

To get it started temporarily while you get a key for it, locate the connector attached to the ignition switch and disconnect it. This will enable the engine to run.
The ignition switch just earths the CDI system to stop the engine.

Yeah tell me about, on the weekend I had to pay 100 bucks to get my Honda trucked home because the ignition switch shat itself. If I knew I could disconnect it and ride it home that would have been helpful.

I am going to try that tonight... forchetto, is there anything he can't do?

Well it would be a neat trick for a car but I think most cars don't have start buttons (although REALLY old ones do) .

From what I understand about cars, I don't think same trick will work with modern car ignitions...but maybe they will...

    Who knows? FORCHETTOOOO KNOOOOOWS!!! <whoooosh>
