#1 Lifan 600cc Nuke08-12-2009, 07:01 AM
Hello guys.
Just found this Lifan 600 cc Nuke model on this obscure website. (a chinese forum?) Looks like a prototype with a Suzuki engine. But the design is ok, It looks like a Jap.

A lot of text is lost in translation though. There are two pages with photos.

Mmmman I need to start going to the Chinese motorcycle trade shows again!

Allright, do you then know thiese pics from 2002. They are all prototypes but a clear prediction about what we can expect in the future. I am going to make an album in here with all the pics together.

08-13-2009, 06:34 PMI'm pretty sure that the Zongshen bike is just a Suzuki that they bought to start a GP Racing team in '06. They are still posting the pics and info at Zongshenmotor dot com. I've been watching them because they have had a small project/working agreement with HarleyDavidson.

But, the relationship is mostly about HD getting into the Chinese market. HD needed the clout and lobby power of Zongshen - which is privately owned. Previously, only Chinese military could own 750cc and larger bikes. Harleys smallest motor is 883cc.
Jailing's JH600 is one of the few "large" chinese motors...and it's a thumper.Too bad they don't produce that 250 V-twin pictured as the red Commando250 as a 450, 550, or 650. Because, the Suzuki SV650 sells really well.

That red Zong 750 could be a Zuki but's got a funny swing arm.
The Jialing engine looks a little big for a 250 twin...but it could bee a perspective problem. If its not, it could easily be a plastic engine.
Niels brings up a good point though...what happened to these bikes?

PS - Thanks for that link to the Harley ZS article. I'll repost it...---------------------------------------------------

I think it says "600" on the Jialing Commando, but the pic is in no good resolution so it gets blurred when I try to zoom. It looks like some 650 engine, maybe taken from Hyosung or SV 650. But you are right, it looks like a plastic model. I cannot see the top gasket on that Commando.

08-14-2009, 04:54 PMNiels, the commando says 250. And when you consider the size of the exhaust pipe, it must be a 250cc. But, I totally agree with Carl that it could be a fake, cylinder heads of that size could easily be 650 or 750cc. Or perhaps the frame is a super small scale???
What we can agree on is that these bikes were either models or concepts that didn't make the final cut. At least they made it past the photoshop stage.
And Carl, did you notice the date on that HD/Zong news?

DOH! I didn't see a date on the top half of the news post and assumed (incorrectly of course) that is was relatively recent.
Geez... maybe I need to take a break or something!

08-15-2009, 05:04 PMYep, old news. But I believe the partnership achieved what it needed to. I understand that China now has 2 Harley stores and despite the 100% tariff, you can legally obtain an HD there. I was hoping that technical and manufacturing partnerships could have resulted. Nope.

There's still much work that has to be done in China in terms of developing the riding culture. To be honest, I hope these guys like HD and BMW take is niiice n' sloooow cuz that's a big fish they're trying to fry.
Pay off could be tremendous if it pans out though!
