    Howdy folks!

Transplanted American now living in Chengdu. I've been here for a little over three months. What I miss the most is riding. I was a Harley/Custom riders in recent years. In my youth, I rode the early sport bikes, KW 500 3cyl, KW 750 3 cyl, KW 900.

Right now I'm looking for a Raptor with the 350cc motor.

Find mfg's in China is easy....finding dealers is a bit harder.

I don't read Chinese and I have no idea where to look in my city.

So, if anyone knows of a dealer in Chengdu that has Raptors, please let me know!

    Well Howdy,
If you're looking for the best place to buy bikes, its call the JiinMo bike center. Go there and have fun. It's supposed to be one of the largest in China.

If you want to know exactly where JinMo and other bike places are are, as well as some camera stores, check out:

or download the kmz file attached to this post.

What kind of riding you looking to do? You got a license already?

Hope things are all well in the Du!

    Thanks!

No, I don't have a license yet. I suppose I should get one first.

Also, my wife told me that there is a moratorium on motorcycle license plates this time if year, so I guess I'm not in any hurry.

Also, motorcycles are not allowed inside the 2nd ring rode unless they got their license plate before the ban. I live about 1 mile inside that barrier.

I would like to start looking around at bikes. Given that these mfg's built anything and everything and let whoever put there name on it as their brand, I need to be careful about what mfg made the bike in the first place.

I'm in that cruiser mode of life and I would still like to have a chopper, even though it is a baby version.

I hear rumbling and rumors about bigger engines coming. I may wait until I can get at least a 600cc. I want to be able to ride with my wife comfortably and do some sightseeing.

I live near the US Consulate and work in Xinjin. It is about a 50 mile ride. I think it would be a lot better commute on a bike than taking the bus (2 1/2 hours - one way). I only work two days a week, but still, the bus ride is wearing real thin...

    I'll check out JinMo!

My two day work week is 13 classes, 40 minutes each, 6 on one day, 7 the next. All 8th graders. It's a great school with excellent people and excellent facilities. That many classes in two days....two days is plenty!!!!

I'm quite interested in custom bikes. However, I live on RMB. I have a wife and a 14 y/o son. These are waaaaayyyyyy out of my price range!

Anyone have the address of Jin Muo? I don't read Chinese!

My wife found Jin Muo and took me there today. The place is huge! We found a Raptor dealer. I will start a new thread in the Street Bike sub-forum with pics of what we found...

Yes! Carl was a big help! Thanks Carl! Now, only time will tell whether this was help or trouble...I guess that depends on me...

I did look at some other choppers. Some V-Twins...I liked the look, but not the quality.

So far, the Regal Raptor model is winning the battle...

This is a great link! It should go in the dealers section.

    LH,

Jin Mo should be able to hook you up with something. Getting your license is important and a great peace of mind. Download the English version of the license exam from the link I gave you earlier...it's at the bottom of the page.

There are some decent 250cc cruisers out there made by a couple companies. There's a monster contingent of Nordic brothers in Denmark who customize Chinese 250 cruisers and show up in force.

I lived very close to where you live now. that place has changed over the past several years...expecialy the area near the computer city on teh 1st ring and Renmin nan lu.

I didn't think XinJin was 50 miles away. You mean 50km? is that round trip? Either way, a 250 or 300cc cruiser will suite your purposes wel. You and your wife can make qutie good miles on a 250, just keep it slow is all.

Slow will save your life in China... I CAN NOT overemphasize that enough.
