I sold my 200cc Jialing/Zongshen frankenstein bike (nickname courtesy of Carl) last fall and I'm looking at getting another in the next two months.

Can anyone recommend me a bike they've used and trust? I'm located in China and I'm looking to spend between 5,000-9,000 yuan more or less, and for that price I expect either a 200 or 250cc street legal dual sport. I know that Carl had a Qingqi GY200 (I think?) and was really happy with the quality on that bike, since it bears a close similarity to the Suzuki DRM. Is this bike still among the best picks in the class, or has the situation changed much in the last two years?

Are there any promising bikes on the horizon for 2010?

Thanks for your guidance and suggestions!

Under 10,000 yuan, I think the QingQi QM200 is the best thing going, the Shineray XY200GY-7 is also pretty good. Between 10-15k You could go for the Shineray X2 or the Galaxy XTR. If QingQi would get off their butt and certify the QM250, that would be my choice.

    Good luck with your purchase.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the tips. I saw the thread on the Galaxy XTR: that bike looks nice!

I had the same question. Same kind of bike, same price range. What did you end up buying? I saw some bikes on Taobao. Anyone have any experiences buying from Taoboa? I am in Kunming, if anyone know any local suppliers.

    Thanks.

IIRC Andre555 is in Kunming as well as a lady ChinaJ. Maybe they can point you in the right direction?
