A little heads-up on an interesting twist in the C-Moto business found on Manufacturing.Net. Still trying to make sense of it but I know there was talk of consolidating groups of manufacturers in China to handle different types of business. The report (quoted with link below) states that ZPP (Zongshen PEM Power Systems) from Canada is planning to supplement the cold air masses and geese, it sends to America every year with "environmentally friendly two and threee wheel vehicles."

Also some rumors about US investor Warren Buffet (who put over 300 million into HarleyDavidson) meeting with Zuo Zongshen in the US on Jan. 25, 2010... which is today.

VANCOUVER (CP) -- Zongshen PEM Power Systems Inc. says it will acquire a major Chinese motorcycle brand for about $95 million in a related-party transaction that will result in Zongshen Zuo owning at least 62.2 percent of the company.

The gas-powered motorcycle business that's being acquired by ZPP is carried out through Chongqing Zongshen Automobile Industry Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Zongshen Automobile Air Intake System Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

ZPP is a China-based, Canadian-listed manufacturing company focused on the development and commercialization of environmentally friendly two and three wheel vehicles.

Its first products are small gas and electric bikes and motorcycles.

Following a reorganization by the vendor, ZPP will gain administrative control of Automobile Industry and obtain "substantially all of the economic benefits of the remaining 51 per cent of the equity of Automobile Industry not purchased directly under the equity purchase agreement."
The agreement is with Hong Kong VAS International Development Ltd., an investment holding company that is related to ZPP's largest shareholder, Zongshen Industrial Group Co., Ltd., which is controlled by Mr. Zuo.

ZPP said the acquisition of the Chongqing Zongshen Automobile companies will provide it with a leading motorcycle brand in China and a strong manufacturing, technology and distribution platform for its electric motorcycle business.

Zongshen Industrial Group estimates the acquired business will generate the equivalent of $283.8 million in revenue in the year ended Dec. 31, 009, and will have annual net income equal to about C$15.8 million.

Based on that estimate, the purchase price will be about 600 million yuan (C$94.6 million), including 400 million yuan in cash and about 31.5 million common shares of ZPP.

Also, based on that estimate, Zuo will own, control or direct about 59.4 million common shares of ZPP upon closing and up to 90.9 million common shares, or 71.6 per cent of the company, if all escrow shares are released to the vendor.

That article was really badly constructed.

The red has a passion for green and they also have tapped into low cost made to order manufacturing.

    The Derbi Senda DRD 125 R has a a 125cc engine with 15hp.

This is the Zongshen Fly with a 150cc engine, but it seems pretty obvious that they are sharing a common platform.

Smaller and lighter? When the four valve engine is used its also more powerful.

I also think they are manufacturing bikes for Yahmaha

I could be wrong but it looks like these all share the same frames.

Sorry Carl, It's not that I am being dick or anything, but being listed on a canadian stock exchange does not mean its comming from canada.

    Oengus,

I really don't think the company is going to send eco friendly two and three wheeled vehicles to America. It was just a joke. We do import a lot of cold air and geese from up north though.

Anyway, if you compare the two frames, they may have a similar style but are actually quite different. Take a good close look. The only manufacturer in China I know produces for Yamaha is Jianshe, in ChongQing.

    I got the humor.
Would those all be trellis frames, very similar but different.
They could be all the same and all are cheaper and easier to make and better then the cradle frames they replace.
What is the cost of the Jianshe Yamaha, the YBR 250, in china?

I have wonder why they are so under powered, is it all a matter of perception; the speed? Or is it just the top speed? The little bikes are very agile and really just for getting around, 125cc seems to be the bike of choice in china.
