    Hey folks...

Its been a while since I was on and the last time I was on I was telling every one that I was leaving China and selling my bike. As it turns out I went back to the U.S. for some training, but now have a new job down here in Shenzhen and moved my bike down with me, however riding any thing bigger than an electric scooter is off limits. I've talked with the other guys that have been here a while and they say that if I stay in my local area, Shekou, that I should be ok. With that said I'm thinking of buying a pickup so I can haul my ass out to the country so I can get my dirt on!.

Does any one have any info on riding down in this part of the country, Shenzhen , if so please feel free to share.

Thanks, and hope to have some more pics for you guys soon...

    Hi Spoony,

I just purchased a new car instead of a pickup because the restrictions on pickup trucks are almost as bad as motorcycles. Shekou is a nice town, but motorcycles and pickup trucks are going to be difficult to own there. I'm sure you see both every day, but they're not really legit when it comes to the po po at certain times of the year .

Come on over to Dongguan if you want a cold beer and some conversation sometime.

    Cheers

Is it a problem with only trucks or all "commercial" type vehicles?

How about trailers? I don't think I've ever seen a pulled trailer in China.

    Hey ChinaV

I'm always looking for a cold beer in this country!

I went and looked at SUV's and Pickup's this week and from what I could understand is that Pickup's can't be driven in town, whatever that means?... With the Spring Festival here next week I'm just going to wait a month or so, plus I still have to take that damn driving writen test. I'm actually looking into more off road riding now and that was the reason for the truck.

    Thanks for the info

Most farm roads are a close substitute.

Hey there, I'm another Shenzhener, and yes in Shekou most expats can get away with driving around, as long as you don't go past the Shekou Walmart they shouldn't give you trouble (unless there's a crackdown or something important happening).

I've been wondering about the trailer thing myself as I do own a small car and I have a few bikes, it'd be perfect if I could tow them out of the city limits to go hit the dirt... Anyone have any ideas on trailers? Like Crazycarl said, I've never seen one in China.. leading me to believe that they are yet another banned thing (although imagine what nonsense the locals would pile up in a trailer.. so it's understandable).

Anyone have any insight on the whole trailer thing? Tow bar installation?

Hey all, I moved up to Beijing almost a year ago, and yes, the bike followed me up here. I live outside the fifth ring road and ride out in the country side when the the weather allows...
I do know a guy up here that sells motorcycle trailers, he's an American that has a three wheeler shop. Nice guy, I went and looked at the trailer's last summer trying to get an Idea what to do with my Qing Qi.
Might want to give him a ring or send him an email. Of course this is China and I'm sure the laws up here are different than they are in Shenzhen...hahaha

    Hi there.
I just purchased a nice small new trailer - made in China, but good quality, galvanized, 12" wheels, lights and a fair price. I made the towbar myself for my 4x4. It can carry one bike - that will do it for me.....the factory also make trailers for 2 and 3 bikes.
I dont know what the police will say, but lets see what happens, when I starts to drive around....:-)
Living and driving outside ring 6, I dont expect any big problems........but who knows... we are in china.
