07-05-2011, 03:33 PMHi Jeff,
This is what I bought >> http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=2789473257
Sounds like a loud air horn, or a loud trumpet. Not as loud as a truck's, I'd like it to be louder. But I'm not sure I it's safe to have anything louder that close to my ears. A sound meter application on my phone reads 80 db. Also, it doubles as a blinker at if the headlamp is on. I can see the lamp dim to half intensity when I 'blow my horn'

07-07-2011, 02:55 AMDear Wrangler,
Give us a link for the wolo when you can. I'm looking forward to hearing the comparison. I'm up on Suzhou Creek and you're in Xuhui, right? Let me know the time and date; you think I'll hear them from my place?jkp

I got it in the US from Amazon.com. I will be installing it in about a month (I get my new bike in a month) and I will drop you a line when I get it set-up.
I haven't had any problems with the chinese horn other than one time it was very humid and it sounded like water got in it. It dried out in 2 days though.

#358 Another horn option07-07-2011, 04:45 AM
I asked the Jialing JH600 service center (Beijing) to install a LOUD horn for me, and this is what it did …
The pair of horns remind me of the horns that most CJ builders use. Anyways, I am satisfied – my horn is VERY loud.
I can’t remember how much I paid, but it was somewhere between 50 and 150 rmb, installed. Worth every fen.

07-07-2011, 05:04 AMFrom the second image, you can see that one is tuned to a higher pitch, and one lower.
I'm currently working in a little hospital that's set back about 30m from the G205 in Tancheng, southern Shandong, and I can tell you I'd not want to be getting eye surgery during one of the 10,000 daily horn blasts from the endless stream of huge trucks and farm equipment barreling past all day and all night long.
I am tempted to ask where they buy those horns, though!jkp
