#1 50 RMB GPS Holder05-17-2010, 11:46 AM
For a long time I was looking for some GPS.
Moto series from Garmin were too expensive, but i still have my old MIO PDA with Chinese Map.
Problem with PDA was that someone have to navigate me, or if I go alone I have to stop way too often and confirm that I`m on the good road.
Surfing the net I found some sort of solution. I believe cheapest possible.
Simple food container, like we use to keep in fridge. Sponge as anti-shock protection and plastic foil as water-tight cover.
Haven`t try it in the rain, but should be OK.
Total cost 50 RMB (charger included)

05-18-2010, 12:03 PMVery nice piece of DIY farkle!
Speaking of GPS, all indications suggest that smartphones and google maps are on the way to replacing expensive proprietary systems. I have a friend in California who is using his Android phone not only as a GPS, but also as a very nice moto-mounted video camera. The quality of his videos is amazing.
Anyone using Android this way in China, or the iPhone for that matter?jkp

I use a Nexus One with a China Unicom 3G card and it works perfect as GPS
If now someone would be willing to write an app to remote control some camera functions via Bluetooth ....Andy
