So there you are happily motoring along in with all the other traffic, and what do you smell in the traffic air, yeah, the fumes from the exhaust pipes. Well I do not wish to be alarmist, but I used to work with diesel engines in confined spaces and eventually quit the job because of the diesels and what I knew they were doing to my health.

When asked why, I said diesel is a known carcinogen and I am breathing the stuff daily, my life is not worth this job, what do you mean you are worried about contracting cancer from diesel fumes, you smoke cigarettes I was asked, my response was I was unconvinced about the link between smoking and cancer and smoking was my choice, breathing diesel fumes is not, it is a hazard of the job that I was not prepared to take anymore, especially since you aren't going to pay me danger money for working with the things.

Anyway, whilst looking for information on the net about the dangers of diesel fumes, tobacco and cancer, I happened on an interesting article, which might prove interesting to you bikers out there who have to breathe the traffic;

Four known carcinogens in diesel fumes and clean diesel is even worse !

So yeah, I knew about diesel fumes, so this article came of no real surprise, but I had considered the morning route to work, all that diesel to breathe, so, I don't know about anyone else, but I am getting something like this, as I remember I actually felt sick when I used to cycle to work, the result I understood of breathing in all that diesel, cycling being a cardiovascular activity as well. ;
