Congrats on passing! Can I ask where you did it, and if you could share the contact details of that location? I've been checking here in Beijing for the last few months and all the schools still state they only have the test in Chinese...

Congrats on the new Lisc! Now you just have to learn to play frogger in reverse with one eye closed and a hand tied behind your back and you'll be set for the street.

For Foreign to Chinese DL conversion you have to do it from the location below:
Foreign Office of Beijing Motor Vehicle Administration (北京市公安局公安交通管理局车管所涉外管理科)
Address: No. 18, East 4th Southern Ring Road (南四环东路18号，十八里店南桥)

Thanks. Any idea for first time foreign to Chinese DL conversion requires to drive with the probation label for the first 12 months?

Only C1 so far. Will have to figure out the E later. My foreign motorcycle license expired long time ago.

Yikes, hate to be bearer of bad news, but by getting the C1 alone you might have bought yourself some additional mafan. In some cities it there is a waiting period of up to a year to change a C1 to C1D or C1E. Was there a reason for getting just the C1? Why not just bite the bullet and go through the various hoops to get the motorcycle endorsement from the outset?

Just heard a rumor that they are no longer even issuing C1D lisc in some cities...

It's not a rumor. It's a fact that's been documented in MCM, probably in this thread. Xian and Wuhan are on that list.

But that's a different issue. Check out the posts earlier in this thread from a member in Shandong who applied for a C1D but was issued a C1 because a clerk unilaterally assumed that the foreigner had made mistake by appying for a motorcycle endorsement -- "surely no foreigner would wittingly ride a motorcycle in China! It's unsafe!" -- and amended his application to C1 without asking him. Took him months to get it corrected through an appeal process, though I think he finally prevailed. Details anyone?

Jaywidz, if you are in the same position -- applied for a C1D or C1E but were given a C1 -- you might want to explore an appeal.

Sorry - should have clarified...Meant to say they had started this crap around Shanghai - and surrounding small towns. Something about yet another crack down on 3 wheelers.
