Cool tour, Carl. Thanks for the insider's look!

I've noticed a couple of larger displacement enduro bikes as well...

This one looks exactly like a Honda XR250

And this one looks like maybe some sort of Suzuki design?

I'm not sure where those bikes are from but the headlight plastics and wind deflector look almost exactly like the ones on my Jialing JH150GY-2.

The 400cc only has a 9l tank and the 250 looks like it's only EEC certified.

This maze of manufacturers thing seems good now but I hope it thins out in the near future and leaves only the top competitors. Some simplification of the market may do everyone some good!

    so true....
Hard to figure out who's actually building and who's just re-marketing with different plastic.

Here's another one that has a xr250-like bike (looks identical to the one in my previous post) as well as a 300cc of some sort.

And here's another one. the links to the products don't work anymore (they did before), But maybe they'll be up again soon.
These guys also sell the bikes mentioned above as well as dirt bikes up to 450cc.

Bruce of EJ Cycles on chinariders.net saw the 400cc in person at the motorcycle show in Indianapolis in february. He didn't like the quality as much as he would have liked.

If you search for the thread on chinariders, you can read what he thought was good and bad about them. He wasn't impressed, and like a Chinese motorcycle groupie of his that I am, tend to listen to whatever he says about companies. He doesn't comment if he doesn't have first hand experience/knowledge of the bike. Search for it.

Yeah, culcune....Bruce has always been a straight shooter. Good to know he's just not out to make a quick buck off people.

Although it may not seem like it sometimes, making a quick buck has nothing to do with happiness. Exchanging a product for cash is an important part of our economy but pales in comparison to the amazing amount of communication and knowledge exchange to get that product sold.

Sharing knowledge from all aspects of experience is where it's at. If it's done with passion and honesty, the impact you can have on peoples' lives can be life-altering. Knowing good people through life is about as rich as any person could get. The rest is Cool-Whip.

They say they on some of the bikes they have Suzuki engines might be DR 250 engines.

The ones that look like the XR 250 look like the American trail model which I think they did some work on to pass EPA laws a few years ago to get registered there and had lower suspension travel as compared to the comp XR250.

I think this is how it works.......there are manufactures of engines, frames, components etc..........and there are assemblers. You get similar mix and match plastics so you can have identical designs or designs that look almost identical from different manufactures. Same powertrains just different case end covers with an "assemblers" name......private label if you like.......even the engine manufactures buy components sometimes that's why the quality can vary wildly.......just depends upon the quality the assembler buys..........if he builds to a price with no regard for the end user the quality suffers these are the guys just looking for a fast buck...........the guys that are in it for the long term are understanding quality and the role it plays in the after sales period.
The short time, quick hit guy cares less about what happens after the product has sold.

I'm sure this method will soon (if it's not already) reach the Chinese automotive field and you will see specialist companies just supplying engines, another transmissions, another body stampings, wheels and so on, the cars from different manufactures will share components and look similar, it'll all come down to marketing and quality to sort out the winners from the losers.

Or you will see this. This Spanish company is getting the parts made in China shipped to Spain and assembled in Spain.Causing quite a stir in the Moto trials community.
