My current front tire is 90/90-19 and the rear 110/90-17. So I know that the last figure refers to the size of the wheel in inches, the first figure is the tire width. The figure in the middle is something like the section proportion. But what does it actually mean and why can't I find any knobby tires for my bike on Taobao? Is it ok if the first and last numbers are the same but the middle one is slightly different?

    Any explanations highly appreciated!

17" Rear and 19" Front are not very popular knobby tire sizes, especially when it comes to China and Taobao. If the middle (profile) is a bit different, it shouldn't be a major problem for your bike.

Hey Chinabiker, thanks for the direction but as you might have imagined, I already tried Google but the outlines on the manufacturers webpages and even on other forums left me just more confused. The Conti Handbuch is not loading, even with VPN. EDIT: just finished loading!

But it is good to know that I can put on a tire with a slightly different profile, thanks V!

Thanks for the research, filipu. I wanted something more knobby than our standard set.

its this guy http://shop33074215.taobao.com/searc...geNum=2#anchor he doesnt have them in his offer but said he can get them. he showed me some pictures in taobao chat window, i didnt save them, but maybe sth like he has in his offer. i wrote also on motorfans forum and one of the guy gave me a link to some other taobao seller who has the tires. slightly different size but they said they would fit. they asked me to share the feelings about riding in those because they also want to try but heard its not very convinient on the road. i'm trying to contact him but he s offline.

thats the on recommended by the guy from motorfans:
