    Hi Folks

I have a qingqi supermotard (suzuki DR 200 engine)

It always made a particular sound on 3th gear that donīt do on others. Its like some friction between metals inside the transmition case.

After 24000KM I realice it only hapend in 3th gear (feel a litle stupid for not realiced it before) and at stable speed or decreasing speed.

    Is this normal?

    Kind regards

Qingqi 200 Supermotard. (Genesis) Mods Until now:Rised Handelbar with stock risers and a lot of washers. Almost 10cm. Pillion handles eliminated and enduro model rack puted in place with turn signals just ziptied to it. Abominable Top Box over rack! Kickstarter removed for comfort (now inside TopBox). PCV pipe bolted to subframe holding my tools. Acerbis supermoto handlebar protector. Turnsignals bolted to the Abominable Top Box base.

    Andres,

Hard to tell without listening to it. Is it a constant sound (like a whir or grind) or a tapping/knocking like sound? I know third gear tends to be the most stressed gear since that's where all the fun starts with the engine power and speed.

    Thanks Crazy Carl
I was looking for a better world to describe this sound and you post it.

Like you said is a like a whir or grind, constant, at midle to high engine revs. at constant revs or decresing revs. doesenīt sound when incresing revs (acelerating)

as you said the 3rd is the begining of the fun, so what I have to check?

    thanks for your advices

Worth taking out the oil filter and see if there are any metal parts in it. Also, worth checking oil level if you haven't already.

    Other things to check:

    • Chain tension - tight chains can pull on the front gear and make a noise
    • How many kilometers on the bike? Maybe it needs a valve adjustment?
    • Clutch okay? Check clutch basket area for any rubbing.
    • Oil pump or various drive gears? ChinaV posted some wonderful pictures on this problem.

    Just some ideas!

Will check this weekend and see what could be.

    But

No metal parts on filter (Ichange it myself per service manual base and don;t see anithing before
Oil level is part of my pre ride check
I tend to err to the loose side in chain tension.
24,500 KM one year old bike Valve adjusted (not by me last time at 24000KM so this must be checked this weekend (F**KINGs mechanics! GRRRRRRR)

Also will check clucht and Oil pump.

    will post after the check.

    Take Care
