No joke. This could be major news esp. if they can stand on the podium any time soon.

About time China gets serious in that sport . I hope it breeds to a victory . They are certainly capable of respect when it comes to building these machines . If they get serious enough like the currrent trend appears to be going with them , they will even earn the rest of the worlds respect once they start winning on those machines . Hopefully they can put away thier bad quality steriotypical thoughts most people have on thier products by doing this quality race stuff .

Those are just beautiful two stroke machines , and the bike is nice too .

I would sure love to ride that bike

    Cheers, Snortin Norton

Looking at those pics this bikes seems to be at the same level as the best from Japan and Europe. I hope it trickles down to real Chinese bikes that can be bought someday.

motogp.com says "The team intend to commence racing in the 125cc category in 2009 using Haojue machinery produced the Grand River Group (GRG), who have links with Suzuki and who sold 2.7 million motorcycles last year"

    but others are more specific:
crash.net: ..."former Aprilia engineer Jan Witteveen in charge of engine development and British company Harris Performance manufacturing the chassis"

www.auto123.com "Dutch engineer Jan Witteveen, winner of more than 40 world championships in off-road and GP racing, designed it. The compact chassis and wind-cheating bodywork are by foremost British racing manufacturer Harris Performance Products."

motorsportsforums.com "some big names behind this project Surtees, Taylor, engine designed and built by Jan Witteveen, chassis by Harris Performance

They also try to built it up as a Chinese bike but Haojue is just the money."

Kind of like the Shineray MX Team China that competes in the World MX Grand Prix races in Europe (they race on Honda CRF450s)...

I still think it's good though - there's a lot to be learned in racing about performance (and that's what many moto riders want more of! Me included!), but I wish the Chinese teams would compete using their own machinery.

    from http://www.bbc.co.uk/isleofman/conte..._feature.shtml
"In 1959 Honda had sent a pack of 125cc machines to contest the TT and though people laughed at first, Honda went on to win the manufacturers team prize that year.....In 1960 Honda entered the 250-4s and more 125s and were joined by Suzuki. Yamaha had been represented earlier by a private entry ridden by Sonny Angel (who was at the 2007 TT)...Since 1960 Honda and the other japanese manufacturers have supported the TT and ruled the roost, however the British motorcycle industry collapsed as a result. "

    http://www.autohistory.org/feature_7.html
and here: His attitude took Honda motorcycles from a disappointing finish in their first international race in 1954 to a manufacturer's team prize in the 1959 Isle of Man race in Honda's first year at that race.

Honda's racing successes converted to sales successes. In 1959, Honda had topped the Japanese motorcycle sales chart with 285,000 units. Two years later, Honda was selling at rate of 100,000 units a MONTH!

That's a great collection of links and info DH. It would be nice if they raced with their own machinery and technology but I suppose it's a learning process and they'll likely take some of the design advancements in their engine and either a) resell it or b) use it in their own machines.

Either way, it looks good as long as they keep working with outside parties and putting the necessary attention and resources behind it.

It would be great just to see one of these bike in the starting line up at a MotoGP Event. That by itself will be some news! If WuXia could sit behind the bars, it would be double awesome!

USD engine is sweet! Makes a lot of sense from the air/exhaust flow aspects and probably dramatically lowers the center of gravity of the bike.

I REALLY want to see this bike at the starting grid and the podium!
