I think I remember ChinaV telling us he got the light-weight tyre levers in HK?
My levers have spanner shaped cut-outs in them for that extra hand when needed, they weigh 500 g.
Overall everyrday riding kit has most of the gear in ChinaV's selection, and is about 2.5 kg which feels quite heavy in the hand but is nothing much on the bike.
I use a $2 ladies shower bag to tuck it all into, it has a convenient hanging hook and a few sections for storage including a mesh section, it zips up and is waterproof.
With an added first-aid kit and with rain gear and a safety waistcoat and a small 12v pump and torch, it is double that weight but still easy enough for carrying all together in a small backpack or on bike at less than 5 kg. Then I add a couple of liters of water and some dried fruit and a paperback and mobile phone; that is my day pack but I wouldn't add much more for longer trips.Kinlon R/T KBR JL200GY-2

06-26-2011, 08:31 AMThe shower bag is a great idea, Jape. Stuff like that can be found in the little travel stores in airport waiting rooms. Excellent idea of something that you can actually hang on the side of your bike while you wrench. Keeps tools up and out of the grit, and perhaps a bit better organized.

06-30-2011, 09:14 PMDuct tape. Couldn't find any in kunming, the closest i found was insulation tape. Heat resistant, and doesn't stretch.
A quick search on Taoboa .. a roll of tape costs 5rmb..

Posted the answer over in the other thread ... my bad.
Yeah, B&Q is definitely pricy. Pat & I bought some rolled open end wrenches at the Sihui market (Xidawang Lu) - they were cheap, and heavy, but do the trick. Better ones at the tool market (we didn't know where that was, at the time).

Since people were talking about shower bags, thought i'd chime in. I've using my girlfriend's old toiletry bag for over a year now, i swear that thing must be made by wolfman or something because it's tough as shit!
The clear plastic on the pockets makes it real easy to find what you're looking for too. Just a great toolbag.

09-22-2011, 07:54 AMNice solution, Felix. But I'm thinking for all the TLC you are giving it, your panda probably won't want it back....
cheers!jkp
