Would love to hear more about C-Moto riding and riders in one of the biggest and beautiful continents on the Earth!

As with all regions, if you know of other locals who would like to start a self moderated forum, please let us know!

    Thanks,
    CC

    Hiya CC

I'm heading back to this part of the world (South Africa) in a month's time. I'll look up a couple of dealers in our area and tell them about the site. Will also try and get a few pics of some of the dealers. Thanks for opening this thread and the Asia one.

I hope the good folks from these regions don't let us down.

Chinggis man...thanks for thinking about the site and being willing to put in a good word or two! Good folk are good folk and some will be interested but the word just isn't around yet.

It would be real nice to get some dealers on the site who can contribute from a different dimension. Especially with Chinese motorcycles, the dealers collectively play an important roll at this time. One's that pick the right products and respect their customers stand the best chance. As consumers, motorcyclists tend to be detail oriented and demand a little bit of respect as well sometimes!

Hearing some stories from that POV might be interesting too!

    Skip...

There are some folks from South Africa smelling around here so I hope some of them will chime in after a while.

Looks like you're another 200GY rider! I really like these bikes. What kind of riding do you do and why did you decide to get a 200GY?

    CC

P.S. Don't hesitate to post an introduction ad some pics! It will help encourace others in your area to do the same...and they've got to be out there!

Well, let me try and give as much information in one message.

I got sick and tired of traffic and decided to get a bike again. I did not want to spend big bucks and wanted something almost disposable. My last bike was a Yamaha R6 and I loved it, but the problem was that the insurance was very high, plus I hardly ever got the opertunity to tinker with it.
I bought my 200gy from a toolshop called Adendorff. (www.tooltime.co.za) Allthough they do assemble the bikes for most customers, I asked them if I can have mine in the crate. I knew it would be fun to assemble it and I also wanted to make sure it was done right. My bike is a "Wonjan wj200gy-b".

I've only done 370km yet with my bike. It is quite cold now in July and I do not want to catch a cold at this time, so I stick to the car at the moment. In two weeks time, after I've run the Comrades marathon (ultra distance race of 87km) , then I'll start going to work with my bike.

Here is some pics of the crate , assembly and finished bike.

Mods and maintenance I've done on my bike ( a bit of an overkill, but I just love tinkering with it)
    Ado Done
    0.5 Assembly
0.5 Tighten nuts and bolts with loctite
    77 Chain adjust and lube
    77 Change engine oil
    77 Clean engine oil filter
77 Bleed front brake and lube caliper
77 Oiled speedo and clutch cable
    77 Bleed back brake
103 Oiled electric connectors, reroute starter possitive, new terminals for battery
    103 Installed top box
220 Back brake dragging. Replaced fluid, bleed and adjusted brake.
310 New 41 teeth back sprocket and shortened chain
310 Installed missing circlip on back wheel
310 Installed new back wheel bearings
355 Replaced grease nipple on swingarm and greased swingarm
377 New cone airfilter and remove air box
377 C clip on carb, move one down (richer). Now on second notch from bottom
    377 New NGK spark plug

Some quick links of local shops that I can suggest to other South Africans

www.startline.co.za (very nice shop with lots of goodies, a few branches)
    www.tooltime.co.za (where I bought my bike, R9 500)
www.fullthrottle.co.za (I'm sure everybody knows this shop)

    Hey Ja Skip,

Glad to hear from another 200GY owner in SA. I am based down in Limpopo. I see you have changed your rear sprocket. Standard a 56 if I am not mistaking. I planed to go down to a 48 MAX! Did you not lose a lot of power with the 41? What does she rev in top @ 100km/H? What is your Top end at? Have you tested your Fuel Economy yet ?

    Speak to you soon,
    Regards.

PS. Where did you get the sprocket from?

    Hi Guy's,

I live Pretoria, just got myself a copy of a Honda CRF250 Motard. Must say the quality does not seem bad as I used to race mini-moto's, also chinese imports and the quality on those were not that great.

Hi everybody, I'm writing from Madagascar. I own an shineray xy-200gy-8, lovely bike, already have 1,500 on the clock, and believe me conditions are hard here, so far no major probs just re-tightening nuts and bolts, but as I am the generation BSA / AJS, I am well used to that. Looking forward to more news from Africa.... will add some photos soon... have a good day, papaian
