10-20-2010, 02:37 AMHi everybody,
I just moved to Dongguan area (becoming ChinaV's neighbour... ) and just got a brand new Galaxy TGR, being a passionate enduro rider (not riding since ages tough.. ).
For the most curious of you, after 1 day spent in minor adjustments, I test ride it for a couple of hours in offroad on last sunday.
So far so good, so stay tuned, will post a review of the bike soon.
Cheers

Good to have you onboard Andy! That's a fine neighborhood you moved into, pity about the neighbors though...
Great to have a TGR owner on the forum, we'll now get some good comparisons between it and the XTR. Now get some pics up!

Oh lord... moving in next to Lorne! You know he's loco right?
Anyway, have fun getting back into the riding, take it slow, be safe and get LOTS of pictures!

Looks like you got some nice trails out there! How does the TGR fair against the XTR?

10-25-2010, 05:07 AMHi there and hi neighbour. Tks for posting the pictures.
Now, about the TGR, so far I have (almost... safety margin you know... ) only good words to spend.
Last saturday a bit more of prep work before going out for some real enduro, trying to set the SAG.
Actually, I had no much hope to be able to have it right, as my weight is, let's say, a bit out of spec (I'm a mere 98kg naked...). Incredibly, after giving 4 more turnes of preload at the shock spring, it all went fine: 35mm static and 100mm dinamic, which are pretty much the standard value for a bike with links.
Done that, a bit of chain lube and a proper tire pressure set up (kept on the safe side, with 1,3bar front and 1,1 rear), I was ready to go.
Pictures doesn't give the feeling but those trails you can see are pretty steep with plenty of rocks.
The TGR was really good on them. I could climb in 2nd gear on most part of them. And if you get stuck, the very short 1st gear pulls you out of the troubles.
Suspensions are working above expectations. I fiddle a bit (3-4turns in) with the compression and rebound on the shock, as it was too "springy" in origin and it responded to the adjustments. Didn't touch the fork, is ok as it is.
So far I put about 6 hours and about 80km on the bike.
It's time to change the oil now (still have the factory one). I'll make one shot with some Mobil mineral for the next 6-7 hours and then switch to Mobil fully synthetic.
Bike it's lot of fun, it handles great, it's fairly light BUT it's quite heavy on the front if you need to pull the front wheel up to go over a obstacle. Not much low end torquey engine plays its part in it too.
Anyway, again, so far so good. I'm pretty happy and had TONS of fun yesterday.
I will give the bike all the good maintenance required as I always did.
For sure, if it holds together in the long run, it's good value for money. I think is a step forward compared with the XTR.

Another Sunday afternoon with the XTR and TGR. I'm bruised (ego and body) after attempting a few new trails. Oh well, no guts, no glory.
Andy74rc is getting pretty comfortable with his new TGR, not many trails he won't attempt .
I'll leave it up to andy74rc to fill in the rest of the details.
Cheers!
