12-11-2010, 06:39 AMHi everyone,
After doing several mods, ive take the bike for a quick ride around the block a few times,
after lettting it warm up so I am still confused as to why its doing this still,
It will not run smoothly, when under full throttle or even just opening it up around half throttle,
its feels to shutter within the power, But as soon as I put the choke up it runs perfectly fine,
Ive let it warm up for 10 odd mins and taken it for a good 5 in ride and its still had this problem.
Anyone know why it would be doing this,
I recently modded it with, new exhaust + removed the whole airbox, am awaiting a pod filter in the mail, so ive just placed the old slip on filter over the carb.
Seems to be ever since airbox was removed was when the problem may have started.
Im unsure what to do with the extra 3x hoses that were all going to the airbox,
Ive tried blocking one as shown on a thread in here (also unblocked it to see if this was the problem but it made no difference) , but what has to be done with the others?
thanks once again.

You have a constant velocity carburetor the air flow controls the fuel that the carburetor lets into the mix. A very good mechanic can sometimes adjust the fuel jets to get it back to correct.

And, i am not saying you are an idiot as I was, but the choke control seems back to front on these things, it is closed when to the left!
Read the threads after a search and send a pm to some of the other Kinlon guys here, they come and go but are helpful when around, a couple have modded including exhausts and carbies, with no problems

12-11-2010, 09:53 AMno worries jape, so your saying basically, its the opposite to all other bikes, when pulled out the choke is off and when pushed in the choke is off?
Ill check out what i can find, just hoping to find a quick answer as its running like a pig right now after mods.

Actually you have round slide carburetor, Walbro 26mm round slide you may want to do an internet search on that think those are mechanical and not CV.
So you should be OK with a cone filter, you have to play with jetting.
good luck finding jets for that...
may try here first?

If you can get a part number off the carburetor that would help.

12-15-2010, 10:45 AMThanks mjh,
got it sorted now, did the jet fix, swapped the slide in jet up a few more rungs, getting more fuel now, running perfect again,
exhaust, pod, platinum plug fitted,
got a digital speedo and new headlight in the mail,
am curious now, has anyone done any decent mods to these, ie oversized piston, bore, port and polish carby? anything?
Im happy with how its going definate improvement is a quicker bike now, but looking for a quick simple mod that may gain some decent HP without too much drama,
I do all the work myself and purchase everything online so could be cheap if someone has any pointer>?

you know mate, it would be great if at some point you could pull all your different posts into one thread called 'my Kinlon mods', and please include details of what stuff you got where, including part nos. and specs, how much, and what you ended up doing to jets exactly. I know its a bit of work but newcomers with the Kinlon SM and similar bikes would be well pleased and it would save people having to do all the work you have done over and over again. You can post links to Ebay dealers if they were good suppliers too, makes it work for everyone. You might even become famous like Herr Pfaelzer and his J600!
