Hey all, I just signed on here as I'm thinking of buying a Hsun GY200 Dual Sport. I look forward to lurking about & learning. If anyone has anything to say about experience with this bike, I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance!

As long as it's cheap enough and you know some wrenching. If you plan to street plate it, make sure you can do it easily (I'm assuming you are going to order it brand new via mailorder).

That deal never materialized.....now, I'm looking at a '08 GY200. The owner states that I'll need a new C.O.,(cert of ownership) from the maunfacturer as the one that came with the bike is now over 2 yrs old. I'd like to register it in NJ. Does anyone know how hard it would be to acquire a new C.O. from the Manufacturer?

NJ seems to be one of the pickiest states to register a Chinese bike in for some reason.

As far a getting a new COO from the manufacturer, probably very difficult.

I'd pass on the bike if it was me.

Make sure whatever bike you get that it can be registered in your state.

An agent importing for Hisun (Huansoung) in 2008 was Tomoto they had three EPA certificates for 2008 models.

This could be the certificate number 8TMTC.250MC1-002 it covered a variety of 250-200cc versions.

Here is the filing they made with the NHSTA in 2008, if this decodes the VIN properly and the vehicle has an EPA tag on it with the correct certificate # then it could be registered.

I see no other EPA certificates that are for HiSUN or Huansong, in any year 2008-2011, other then the Megelli models.

Wow! Good stuff. Thank you for sharing.
This is a Craigslist deal. I emailed the owner asking if he pursued a new COO. Here's his response...... (does it sound legit?)

"Getting a replacement CO is not hard I have already wrote to the company and they have responded, I am mailing them copies of my paperwork so they will send a updated CO that is all DMV told me I needed to regiester it.

I have a copy of the response from the manufacture, they are a majior company in China and good people to work with"

    http://www.nj.gov/mvc/Vehicle/VehiclesTitles.htm

Without a title it is worth about $150.00 and is a parts bike.

An MCO is not a title and if the bike can be titled then the seller should title it.

NJ is notoriously difficult/impossible to street register a bike not on the NJ MVC's list; stay away from the bike if it is not currently registered, unless you want a parts bike or off-road-only enduro (unless NJ is like California and the bike has to pass CARB and get an off-road sticker--note: off-road-only sticker not as rigorous for a manufacturer to get approved for, but still an extra hurdle for you)

Dont do it!!!! As someone that has gone through issues in NJ trying to reg a bike not on the NJ list its not worth it. There are a number of other inexpensive used bikes on CL that are titled.
