    Hey Gang,

Was just smelling around the web and noticed on a couple sites that Loncin has their own MotoGP racing team with riders from France.

    - Alexis Masbou -

In dead last place, Alexis Masbou and Jules Cluzel seem to be doing a less than spectacular job in the saddle but that could be for many reasons. It would be interesting to learn more about their racing program and how they came to work with Loncin.

I can't find one picture of their bike but I'm guessing they aren't racing their own technology. Anyone heard any news?

The Zongshen Racing Team is the only motorcycle racing team that takes part in the International World Endurance Championship on behalf of China but they're using some large Suzuki GSX-R1000 to do it with. This does nothing for their credibility.
The riders (at least a couple of years ago) were Europeans.

I saw it at the last Canton fair, I'll see if I can find a picture. Loncin just bought an existing team. Nothing but the name is Chinese. I hope that will change soon.

    DeiVTec,

Thanks for the link. The site has quite a good "Paddock Girls" gallery!

Do you follow the Loncin Racing team closely?

A few years ago in 2007 Loncin did 125cc before with mototgp, did a few races, with Chinese riders, they did OK and kept up with the pack.

Haojue are also are racing this year, surely an advertising deal with...Suzuki.

There is also a Jack & Jones 125cc team, a large clothing retail & sales manufacturer!

Obviously the bikes, engineers and riders are not from China, and there are really just some sponsorship deals going on here. I'm sure that Loncin has a deal with Aprilia or Derbi to have their logo on the bike. personally I don't understand the point other than marketing, a prototype bike, which is actually a 2 stroke, surely has no meaning in the real world, you can't buy it or anything like it new in most countries anymore. Unfortunately this is not evidence that Chinese bikes or R&D are improving...It doesn't make me want to buy a Loncin because they have their logo on the side of an Italian racing bike!

I'm glad that Chinese motorcycle brands will be gaining a racing kudos with western markets however.

Loncin are building the 650cc motor that BMW are putting in the "new" G650 GS models. Perhaps they'll be able to field their own technology to race in the forseeable future.

Well I doubt Valentino Rossi will be winning at motogp on a Loncin anytime soon. But decent sized dual sport singles and road bikes seem likely in the future, which really is a lot more practical!

Loncin liquid-cooled 25hp 250cc engines are the engines that power the Puzey MX, enduro, and motard XTR 250 in S. Africa and Australia (Pitster Pro in the US, CCM in the UK, not sure where else) and are the engines (with less hp)to be installed in the Qlink-distributed Megelli 250 line-up, as well as some Canadian company that sells dirt bikes (but has been accused of being asses from people trying to contact them).

I forgot they were the manufacturer for BMW's 650 engine.
