not positive, but if you peel back the shrink tube a little bit you might find the cut end

Why do you say (never again)? Is it hard to remove and reinstall a tank?

On a side note I did check my drain screw at the bottom of my carb bowl and it is tight. Not sure what was dripping from the drain hose but I don't think it was gas. I took a drop and lit it and it did not light on fire. Maybe condensation?

I did plug the AC chord into the charger and it starts to charge and after 1 min the trouble light comes ON on the charger. So either my battery is fried or I now have a short somewhere.

Will try to charge it again when it is dry and cross my fingers but Im guessing a new battery will be $75-$100. This bites. Will search the forum to see what others have purchased.

I pulled my battery today and the sides are caved in. It's time for a new battery.

The tanks leak easily. After removing them and putting them back on. Tightening them causes them to leak.

Sorry to hear that. It seems from this thread that the stock battery only lasts about a year. Mind did. But good part is a new battery is as low as $40 if you dont mind modding the battery box a bit. If you dont there is always the high end lithium ion battery out there for around $100.

If you look back a few pages you can see the battery I bought. Perfect fit except I had to dremel out a slot for the vent enxtension on the new battery. Bike starts first time every time now and my headlight is noticably brighter.

Got ya, well I never removed mine but it appears to leak from where the bolts attach to the tank so dont blame yourself for overtightening them. It may not have been your fault. Sometimes they just leak I think, just from vibration alone.

Dan said you can get it kreemed but not sure I want to go that route. My brother said to just have a welder weld a seam around the bolts. Not too crazy about that idea either. I would think this would blister the inside of the tank and cause problems later.

Third party tank is what I really want if I can find one that will drop fit and not cost a fortune.
