Well, I had an interesting ride home yesterday. Well not a ride HOME, but a ride to a location and got stranded until my wife could come get me with my bro-in-laws trailer. Seems that the throttle grip inner sleeve that works the throttle.. you know that piece of plastic inner sleeve that attaches to the throttle cable in the assembly on the bars.. well it broke. I mean it more like deteriorated. when I get a chance I will shoot some pictures. Anyway, I was stuck on the road side for a couple hours. Yes I tried to quick fix it, with both superglue and electrical tape, but it would not work. So I am hunting down some new grips.
Not sure if maybe the elements, sun , rain etc. caused the plastic to break down, but it basically just fell apart like you were crumbling a piece of toast.
Now I have a little over 9700 miles on her, and she seems to just have a few issues of wear and tear, which I consider normal. Things like this are not something you really consider replacing or looking at that often. At least it never crossed my mind. So basically I am just giving everyone a heads up to check every little detail of your bike on a regular basis. You never know what little quirky item may decide to take a sh!t on you at any moment.

Aside from that, she is still a grand ride. For the value. Just hate the down time, we are supposed to have a rather warm but breezy weekend and I was looking forward to a bit of tooling around on her.
I am still wondering if anyone has an idea about the seat issue I have. I guess I need to just tear it down and take some measurement's and just buy the seat I am interested in and make it work. I do like the new look on the new 2012 bike, but I noticed the mount is located a bit different than the 2010. This is the other seat I am looking at ..

Since she is down for now, I am going to go over her and look and clean everything on her and do some small tunes here and there.

    bowtiewagon,
You are the DF mileage king.
That seat Ebay looks like it will work. You might have to make some brackets but nothing serious.

I have gone with a similar seat on my 2012 and have just removed the stock spring and installed some 5" springs.
A little more fiddling and it should be good to go. I might drop it down an inch or so.

The extra three plus inches in width feels much better on the buns.

Very cool Vince, I myself like the wide seat for my buns as well. plus the extra cushion may help with these hap hazard roads around this town. Looking at your pics and I see that the seat brackets you must have made them for the rear springs, look relatively simple to do. Gonna be working on that . Thanks.

for all you guys with a problem with the ride of a hard tail, looking for new seats, springs and what not, i have a solution, just get a set of front end springer forks.
you will then never even notice the slightest bump on your ass again...
