    When a non vented gas cap is used (on other brand motorcycles) that "knob" is used to vent the tank. It is filled/blocked off with solder, on your tank and is why you have a vented gas cap.

    your right that low of gearing you should be pinging against the rpm cap constantly , checked your fuel filter ? make sure choke is all the way off ? checked spark plug ? checked fuel line for good flow ? are brakes dragging ?

    that's a pretty neat look.
    living in NY, i must admit whenever i used to see those (place pejorative ethnic group here) cruising in their IROC's, radiating some neon colors;
    while i was wondering why they needed the attention, i was secretly thinking it was pretty darn cool looking

    So after adjusting my valves to spec, I can't get the bike to idle correctly, ides nice while leaning on the kickstand but as soon as I stand it up and turn the wheel straight it idles waaaay too fast. Can't seem to get it adjusted right

    If you changed your bars, I can that happening.I bought one from a triumph dealer online at first then found a local triumph shop. You basically have to look at the length and then the barrel nipple ends to make sure they are the same.
    I found my first one on ebay .

    The problem could become reoccurring if you do not lubricate the ends. I noticed that there is not any lube on these bikes when you first get them. That is why mine broke the first time. and the second until I was made aware of why it was happening. Now lubed and trouble free.

    When the handle bars are straightened is the cable pulled out of the socket at the carb? Check the cable routing. Make sure there is a little slack at the twist throttle.

    Got the 30 tooth rear sprocket installed and tested a little. I don't have a long straight away here in the mountains close to our cabin so will have to try a high speed run tomorrow when I have more time. I did get close to 30 MPH in first gear which is nice and did not have any problem going up my steep gravel driveway.

    The sprocket sure looks small. So I am now running a 30/13 vs the stock 45/13. Big difference and I believe a keeper but will do more testing before recommending it. I think the drive ability is improved.
