thanks Mr Being, I'll definitely pay more for a better brake pad, stock are horrible.
but if you really want to save a buck: http://www.ebay.com/itm/272652455627

so what do you know about the sprocket studs? are not the genuine Honda parts gray rather than yellowed?
we're snapping them like crazy around here...

ok. that's the last time I try to 'one up' the human being.

but what's this "parts house" can we buy in US?

When i call a Honda dealer, they gave me this part number. so I am not sure if they are actual Honda or not, but the part number is. They seem to last a while. I mean I have 25,560 miles on the bike, and the studs in there have been on it for most of that after the factory ones broke. Yeah I replaced one a month ago, but they do not last forever. The bushings are like new as well. so I am happy.

no doubt they're Honda numbers but where did you get them, eBay?
thing is while I've now seen plenty of yellowed studs broken or for sale cheap, I've only seen gray studs long used but still in tact. see the used parts with that number on flea bay... gray only.

alright so i assume they are holding up well and look a yellow alloy... my suspicions may well be wrong
I went ahead and bought a set of 90128-446-770, the old part number thinking this way i can ID the part is genuine or not...

I also often search the cross part number to get the best price possible... fwiw i got these studs shipped for 3.75$ each
i was tired of making and breaking studs, i suspect my 4140 pre hard (pre hardened rod) was not actually 4140 pre hard...

I installed the Honda studs when I changed the sprocket back in 2012 or so and they are still in there.

So right before ordering new brake pads, i decided to take a quick look and confirm i actually needed them...
well as my luck has gone with this bike, the pads are fine...

looking at the caliper it was dry no leak, took off the reservoir cap, it was full to the brim, so no leak....
noticed the 2 year old DOT3 fluid i put in there was already dark, changed it... bled the brakes still couldn't build pressure.

pulled off the caliper, squeezing the brake i see the pads move a bit together, release i see the pads move back...
Now I've never needed to diagnose this type of problem before but seems to me that the pads should continue to move together with each squeeze and not back out with release...
so chances are the Master Cylinder pump is bad.

i have to look into it to confirm but anyone know where i can get a rebuild kit, ie a new master cylinder piston/seals...
    call out to humanbeing....

fwiw here is an entire part advertised specifically for the dong fang but if you notice they advertise the same part for many bikes...
id like to rebuild and reuse as i had custom machined adjustable levers... and dont want to sacrifice that or have to do it again...
im thinking if a rebuild kit cant be sourced due to compatibility questions, something like this might be locally sourced and cheap
    2012 DF250RTB_B with Yamaha XV250 V-twin
    1998 XVS650 (For Sale)
