bobber250,
I didn't do any testing of the stock gearing verses the 35 tooth sprocket so don't have an answer for you. I am currently running a 38 tooth rear here in WNC but have run a 33 also. Although I have not run the 35, I think it might be the best size for all around performance.
I'm guessing that the DF and like powered bikes with the CG250 are topped out a true 65-70 MPH. You will need to do a more powerful engine transplant to get 100MPH.
Take all claims of top speed posted on the net with a grain of salt.Vince

10-16-2011, 05:42 PMhmmm, i wonder how much modification to the frame it would take to drop in a 652cc suzuki engine. it's a single cylinder air cooled engine too. just a thought.

Thank you barnone and mailman... the link mailman posted is an eyeopener, I think 65-70 mph is plenty speed for me... for now... LOL. As I get comfortable with the DF, I will probably upgrade to a larger bike.
Now for a new topic.... Has anyone counted the number of cycles there are on the road today?.... I remember not more than a year ago, that to see a motorcycle once a week was normal. Yesterday , while doing the weeks shopping and bill paying, I counted almost 100 bikes in about 5 hours.
Thank you guys.Sean

10-17-2011, 03:46 AMfor sure, there are lots of motorcyclists out on the road these days. even when i take a short ride i find myself waving to at least 10 people. on longer rides (25 miles or more) it might upwards of about 40 people or more, but soon we'll be seeing less riders as it gets colder outside.

When I was in high school.Six seniors had bikes.A few hardcore HD bikers rode year round. That was in the early 90's.Today,I can't go anywhere without passing 15 to 20.the only time you don't see a bike around here is when we get winter weather. Our snow is more like shaved ice than snow.

10-17-2011, 09:27 PMFinally a window of weather today to ride after the breakin & new oil. My dealer had 10w30 in for breakin, now that I put in the 10w40 wet clutch oil, it shifts smooth. Neutral available still only on down shift from 2nd. 'Bubba' was strong & fast up to 60, unable to keep going up due to speed limits. Will try again on a freeway soon.
Yes the gearing is original, I'm finally getting the parts in to modify. For guests reading, understand this is not a factory out of the crate view, i spent 20 hours before photo to remove stripes and paint most chrome items (light sand 600, clean acetone, light first coat, then nail what you want, Weber grill 1500 spray with Duplicolor ceramic engine paint, also 1500 degree paint. Note after delivery allot of ferris metal not protected take the time with light sanding & cleaning paint those areas. After getting into the real world you can't reverse the rust coming. Sounds like most of you need to wait for registration anyway. Get to know your bike. Its an important relationship.Bubba Home 004.jpgLast edited by GUN ROD; 10-18-2011 at 01:28 AM. Your welcome, always glad to help out.
Make sure you put the new sprocket on with the same side out as the original one.
I am interested in your impression of the difference in performance. It been so long for me that I don't remember the difference. Documenting your speed before and after would be helpful for others.Vince
