You can do the Vermont registration thang!

There is a possible silver lining to all of this, thanks to Vermont registration. Member 'Motocheez' who has been posting numerous videos of himself riding around on a Hawk enduro, lives in CT and did go the Vermont route. He is very quick to answer people under his youtube videos or on Chinariders.net if you want to ask him specifics about registration.

The annoying thing about this is that the EPA/DOT certification list is supposed to show bikes certified as either 50 states or 49 states legal; if I remember correctly, when California Scooter Company got 50 states approval for the Zongshen RX3, people in CT (NOT California!) were having difficulty registering there. Not due to emissions, but rather, like Tesla cars, a company is supposed to have registered dealers there.

Simple economics come into play, overall...I can only imagine the price per bike it would cost to get CARB certification. These companies love their 'bargain-basement' pricing schemes, and, my guess, is that if they had to add several hundred dollars, and several months time, to releasing bikes, they would sell less, not more.

That type F reminds me of those mini choppers that used to be sold around town with 2 stroke 50cc engine or the 3.5hp engine. The tires on those things are scooter sized.

Vermont does NOT title bikes under 300 CCs. If you are in Connecticut(with VT. plates) over 60 days... you must register or remove Vermont registered vehicle (and pay a fine). CT. will NOT register a VT. non-titled vehicle.
Manufacturers must pay an annual fee of $2500 to sell/register,in CT. and get on this list:man_list.xls - man_list.pdf
    I went through this b*** s**t ,unsuccessfully in 2010.
    2011 Yamaha Star 250
    2010 DF 250 Bobber (sold)
    2009 Triumph Bonneville T100

Thanks for explaining the reason why Connecticut will not register a DF. Sounds like a lot of government BS.

I wonder if 'Motocheez' knows the 60 day rule? He seems to be having a lot of fun making Hawk enduro videos with a VT plate, but this could reign in his fun!

That is the cost of being able to legally distribute vehicles in the state, that is not allot of money for a manufacturer.
Each of their network of dealers would have to be licensed too and meet requirements.
    http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a=799&q=482230
dealers have a list of fees too.

All any manufacturer would need to do is solicit existing dealers, I see value group enterprises on that list. I believe that is SSR and in that they likely have at least one licensed dealers in the state. However, if you consider that you can purchase an SSR from any other state then the system gets defeated. Makes me wonder if Connecticut only allows a licensed dealer to title a new vehicle.
So then any sale and new titling in Connecticut would have to go through a licensed dealer.
That is actually the smartest system, its a legitimate system.

Also that same dealer is selling Benelli also.

That dealer you listed is in NY.

I call bs on the CT law and your logic justifying the law. Just unnecessary overhead cost that has to be passed on to the customer.
Same for CARB. The federal EPA certification should be good for all 50 states.
