Quick question between arguing and what-not. For those of you who own the bobber, how many miles do you have on your bike? (Hopefully your speedo still works

) I want to gauge how reliable these engines are compared to other Chinese brands we have in the US, since the same 229cc engine is used across their lineup.

my top end blew out with like 500 or a 1000 miles.
a valve dropped, hard to know the specific cause but for what its worth its not like i was neglecting it.

One other guy pm'd me with the same issue.
Id say these are exceptions to the norm but it'll happen.

5k miles on my DF. IMHO they are pretty reliable if you don't monkey with them and rev them out all the time.

Anyway, apparently no one knows what cdi is needed, confirms it was a very good question indeed.

I searched back and found where you and I talked about the CDI. I posted a reply where I replaced my existing CDI with a "racing" CDI.

As an aside, I got one of the "racing CDI" installed and it appears to have raised the top rpm by 800 or more. The engine sounds better with it installed. Higher top speed like my old 2010 DF.

As far as the CDI--the one you linked to is for a GY6 150cc scooter engine according to the Ebay ad. Are they universal and will work for the 229cc, and the 200cc vertical singles?

The one from Ebay works with my DF's 167fmm engine. Probably not worth going with it.

I found the original CDI that came with my 2012 DF250RTB-A in my parts box.

I'm not sure that the market needs another Dong Fang retailer.

I might sell my DF to a guy who wants it here in the mountains now that they are available again. Wonder what year they are?
I wanna a green one to match my mini hack. Make the DF a US Army model.

After seeing the current prices... I think you would be better off just buying a "rattle can" of OD green and maybe a stencil of a US Army star for the tank.
