Many thanks indeed for a lovely photo essay. Apart from the drought and dust, looks like you had ideal weather through most of your journey.
As for the subject of the image, I'm pretty sure I know, having long years of experience with the numbing of a certain part of my anatomy, but I'll hold my fire to give others a chance.

I had my doubts when I first saw it, then next day reading Jeff's post I was sure. I sit on those things every morning for youtiao and doujiang breakfast, and then i have to walk bent double
