PS: My first mod will be to add handle streamers just like the pink ones you can see on my daughter's bike. I'm sure she will love it.
That'll give Mr Yamaha something to really laugh about.Take your riding one day at a time. Enjoy it like a newbie and hope to never get complacent...

PPS: Darn, I should have put this whole thing in a different forum instead of RR. Sorry guys, eventually I will get the hang of it.

Dear DipStick,
This may be the wrong thread for your posts, but I enjoyed them immensely.
Welcome to join the Shanghai motorcycle denizens. I missed the (No-)Bike Night as well as I was on the high speed train coming back from BJ last night.
Like you I started my motorcycle pursuit 9 years ago, learning to ride on a brand new GN250 in Shanghai traffic. My friends and family all thought that that was total madness, but I have this contrarian view of riding motorcycle in Shanghai: Motorcycling is safer in Shanghai than anywhere else, precisely due to the insanely chaotic traffic conditions. All cagers are extra-cautious in order not to run into other smaller vehicles, which doesn’t take much to happen. However, sh*t does happen and when it does we are definitely at a disadvantage. So ride safely and wear protective gears AT ALL TIMES. I consider myself very blessed for not getting hurt too seriously or too frequently in my 9 years riding career, but I always keep in mind that those mishaps are just waiting around the corner.
Look forward to doing some riding together in coming days. Cheers!

05-30-2012, 04:18 AMWe need to get another bike night in Shanghai organized! It has been a long time since I've met up with any of the fellow riders in the area. Is anyone up for it?!

05-30-2012, 08:12 AMDear Hans,
Nice to hear from you. Where were you last week when I issued a (No-)Bike Night summons on behalf of visiting MCMer Andre555? And a Teuton just like your good self! We did achieve a quorum (three of us showed up), so we took it upon ourselves to impose serious fines on everyone in Shanghai who failed to come. The fine is so serious it cannot be announced without causing serious social unrest, so those laggards who have no alibi should prepare for the worst.
How about proposing a time and place yourself and announcing it in this thread?
Where you been all winter anyway?
Cheers!jkp

06-15-2012, 03:24 AM(No-)Bike Night Saturday 16 June 2012 in Shanghai
Once again short notice, but with Fred and Celine back from their epic ride and now preparing to exit Shanghai for good, and with several newcomers hoping to meet us longtimers, what better time than the present?
I'm committed to doing this on Saturday evening, even if it's just a small group. It would be great if we could make it a large group.
Please respond in this thread if you can make it!
cheers!jkp

06-15-2012, 04:14 AMOK, there's one taker, and I'm told that Sammy may bring a GF too, so don't hesitate to bring motorcycle-friendly spouses, GFs, pillions, etc.
How about you DipStick?
My preference would be evening, maybe 6:30 p.m. start, somewhere that has decent food and beverage. Decent tipple is more important to me than food, so I'm leaning toward Jackie's Beer Nest, or Boxing Cat (Sinan or Yongfu) (, or Kaiba (Kangding, Dingxi or Taikang). These are old suspects, but good ones. Just can't face the idea of drinking 40 rmb heinekens and coronas and buds. that's just sick.
cheersjkp
