06-09-2008, 10:13 PMHi everyone,
Right now some of you may know that we just had massive flooding here in indiana... i lost two vehicles to flood damage and some minor home damage and while trying to get one of my vehicles running again a neighborhood kid came by showing a scooter to my neighbors...
I figured he couldnt get it running and it looked in bad shape plastic wise. I ended up buying it for $10.... Even if i couldnt get it running it would be worth 10 bucks just to tinker with. But after researching online for parts availability im getting nervous... doesnt seem to be much information in the usa about these but someone has to have imported it from QINGQI.
The one i have is bright yellow and is the rs450 "street" and is the 4 stroke version from what i can gather from googling which lead me here.
With gas prices going sky high this thing could come in handy if i can get her operational again. It has a busted speedo/dash assembly , broken and missing plastic pieces, missing kickstarter and is just covered in mud from the flood damage so i'll have to get the motor dried out im sure.....
Any suggestions on US parts for these?

Wingtip...
Welcome to the site and congrats on your "recent acquisition." It sounds like you have a worthy project there and, I think you're right, she will come in handy.
Do you have a picture of the bike? Also a more detailed list of necessary parts would be helpful. Let's see what can be done.

I understand there's no power to the bike even with a new battery but it might not be a fuse. It could also be corrosion.
Without seeing some pictures, there are a few questions...
1) Have you taken off all the plastics?
2) have you drained the oil and checked the airbox for water.
3) Have you checked the drive case (where the drive belt is) for water?
4) Will the cylinder move if you try the kick starter?

my camera was damaged and i still have to send it in for repair... this is one of many reasons why i havent went any further at the moment. its looking like insurance and fema both arent wanting to pay a dime for assistance right now so the scooter is the least of my worries...and a very low priority.
while spraying down the bike i did notice the data plate showed it as a 2006 model.

I totally forgot about the rest of your flood damage. That must be a fantastic pain in the butt. ChinaV's mother also recently experienced not one, but two floods and just recently had her house refinished.
Anyway, as far as the scooter goes, it would be worth tracing the power lines and checking all the harnesses for erosion. Blast some WD40 in the spades and see what happens.
On the harness leading to the ignition switch, maybe check that with a voltmeter if you have a dry one handy!

06-22-2008, 09:58 PMHere are a few photos..
as you can see its still pretty muddy even after a washing... it was completely buried under water during the flood, thus the reason for the cheap purchase price...Starting a new job monday so hopefully in the near future i can afford to start buying some parts... but of all the places online ive found to buy the parts i havent seen one single place that sells the plastic body parts... ZERO
