Many of us have heard of the "one-X" policies ...

    - One-child policy (resulting in little emperors/empresses)
    - One-house policy (to subdue the hot real estate markets)
    - One-dog policy (Shanghai takes the lead)
    - One-car policy (Beijing plate lottery rule)
    - One-wife policy (I doubt girlfriends will be restricted)

We can accept, although perhaps disagree, with any, or all, of the above policies.

But last night, I heard a rumor that Beijing is considering limiting the number of motorcycle plates to one per person ... now THAT is going too far! I hope it is just a rumor.

One plate in your own name, another in your wife's, another in your girlfriend's (or girlfriends'), another in your dog's. That's at least four.

Oh, I don't think you southerners have much to worry about ... living the good life, sipping Chinese Pina Coladas (baijiou with durian juice) under palm trees, enjoying 12 months of sunshine, prettiest girls in all of China.

    No, I'm not jealous

I don't know why this reminds me of this story but I was riding the subway in Paris about ugh...12 years ago and there was this Texan sitting across the car from me next to a small French woman holding a poodle. The texan says in the most stereotypical Texas drawl I have ever heard:

    " 's her name Fifi?"

And the French woman is totally confused and says, "Fifi?"

So the Texan replies: "Yup, that's what I thought, they'all named Fifi".
