@slabo wouldnt that be something to update your bike - is the frame of the frankenbike similar to your GY7?
Probably this supplier can update your bike easily.

Interesting! A generic 250 enduro. Surely, if you were able to register it in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, it's got a manufacturer's plate and VIN. That tank and front/rear racks looks a lot like the Shineray's. Wonder if these are falling off the back of Shineray delivery truck?

Slabo, what do you think? Is that a FrankenLongMarch?

    cheers

Yes, can see that. At the same time it's hard to imagine some guy making these bikes all by hisself in his garage. There must be huge supplies of every imaginable part readily available in Chongqing, which are used to manufacture all the major bikes, so Dr Frankenstein does have a lot of limbs to work with. Interesting that he's opted to leave it unbranded, but, as I said, there's got to be manufacturer's information on the VIN plate riveted to the steering head. In fact, the VIN number alone will reveal the manufacturer's identity.

Zhu, how about a picture of your VIN plate, to help us sleuth this mystery!?!

    cheers

The picture of the WJ250GY is an older version they made changes to the model, the new version has USD forks and a revised seat.

I do not like the two into one exhaust on the WJ250GY, I would like to see it with two mufflers and routed on both sides and the chrome is not needed could be black. I do not like the gold anodized forks and bars to me it does nothing for the bike, would be better black and the white fork guards stick out like a sore thumb. I also think those modifications and a set of 17” street tires would make the bikes appeal go up to many. I also never have seen it in any other colors then red and green. It would look good in white and also black…if they re-routed the exhaust then they could add a good frame/engine guard which would look good on that bike, the curve in the second exhaust line looks awkward and threatens to break off at the manifold if hit hard on hill or dip in a trail, which would probably be unlikely and easy to avoid but still it draws the eyes to it and not in a good way.

I would not assume the WJ is not willing to make revisions to that model, particularly if its engine meets C3 emission standards. I'd say if it does modifying or improving on the model could bring it additional sales. It has a decent engine with respectable output.

that is definitely a frankenbike. Not much to relate to the original bike. One thing about the Long March is that I still don't see any rust. After 15 months, still not a spec of rust except on the exhaust pipe. All the bolts and the still have the original color. Looking at zhu's bike, I don't see any rust protection on the bolts, it's worth taking care of that early one. what are those bolts made of? Galvanized steel?

What do I need to fix on my bike? Engine is seriously underpowered. But instead of putting in a Zhongshen, I'd like a 233 aircooled Loncin .. I asked yesterday at the market, should cost me 2k all together for the transplant. I'll do it when I come back, that's next year.

Zhu is right though, whatever I change on the bike, it still has that wobbly frame underneath. My bike doesn't feel very stable going around the bends when I hit speeds of +90km/h. Tires perhaps? That would make a difference. Comparing my Long march to a Galaxy, the galaxy feels much lighter.

How can I weigh my bike ? Registration says dry weight is 144kg! The Galaxy XTR 250 is 115. Clearly the Long march has no relation to dirtbikes.

So changing the engine and tires would make a better touring bike, but

Anyway, not selling the bike, I've decided to keep it as a learning project. Got me some tools but I'll just do small jobs for now, more when I come back next year..

What can I get from this seller, Mr Franken maker? Forks, and a different engine are not what I'm looking for right now.
