06-26-2011, 08:47 AMThis guy is definitely worth a visit. Seems he's building all sorts of franken bikes out of part from many different manufacturers. If he knows how to get his bikes registered, you've won yourself the lottery. Custom legal bikes in China!

well its no gp bike thats for sure
the front end feels good and on a smooth surface the rear is fine but it is easily upset by bumps and ripples
thin walled steel swingarm and old tech twin shocks ...
it is what it is , which to me is basically a farm bike with good load capacity a reliable donk and good brakes
rust protection .. yeah i could smell the cheapo paint burning off it for the first 100k,s, after that the rust set in

zhu - just bought a bike from the bloke you mentioned - 223cc Jialing, goes alright, makes an awesome noise, built like a tank and all for 7000rmb
However, the bike has already got a problem - battery's dead.
I suspect this was because the new battery wasn't fully charged, and I was riding round with the headlights on. However I let it run on its stand for half an hour but still didn't make any difference, wouldn't start. I definitely need to get this sorted as it doesn't have a kick. I am taking it back to Mr Wang and his workshop to get it sorted, but I have a strong suspicion this might be a recurring problem - any suggestions regarding a decent battery? Or other problems that would cause the battery to run dry?
Also, gearing seems to have loosened up, within an hour of riding it the gears didn't seem to engage as smoothly - or this just me worrying too much? Any suggestions would be great.

07-04-2011, 02:59 AMHey welcome to the family.
Does this Jialing engine have an oil filter?
As for the batter question, I change two batteries at the dealer's, both failed within a month. Third time I ditched the dealer and bought a battery from a mechanic I trust. Never had a problem since. Have a look at this thread, Euphonis explains how a batter should be charged. http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...-amp-chargers/

07-04-2011, 04:11 AMtake close up photos of your engine and we can tell. Also, at the bottom, there is the engine model number. Get that so you can get the relevant documentation and routine maintenance procedures. Take photos of both sides of the engine, and mark all the model numbers you can find. Just so we can help you know your bike more.
q1) This Mr. Wang, is he the same taobao seller "networkhero" .. this >>http://jlyymt.taobao.com/?search=y&scid=165099202&scname=qbCppLao1%2FbUvdKw s8mztamkqbQ%3D&checkedRange=true&queryType=cat<< shop ??
q2) your bike is a clearly a mutt, a mix of bike parts from different manufacturers, actually a good thing if done properly, but I was wondering about registration. Was it troublesome to register the bike? On registration papers is it a 250 ?

hey raph thats a nice looking bike
i find the gearbag is fussy about the chain tension and clutch adjustment
i wouldnt tie up a fleabitten dog with the standard chain, so im just going to wear it out tomorrow and get a decent one
when all is adjusted well the shifts are sweet but the chain is wearing so fast its out of wack again in 200km
i just kind of accept these 2nd rate components as normal in china and as long as the bike has a good heart, just sort out the small snags as they arise
hope you have a good trip

07-04-2011, 04:26 AMPhotos coming up. Its in the garage at the bottom of a massive slope which I am going to have wheel it up.
Slabo re. your qs:
q1. It is Mr Wang.
q2. Registration should be done tomorrow. Mr Wang promised it was no problem registering the bike, all the same I have held part of the cost of the bike back as part of insurance. On paper its a 150. Apparently the registration officials dont even look at the bike.
