Ok, Chinese bike, from a Chinese manufacturer in China. And I can't find a simple stupid airfilter!

The dealer, as usual, was no help...

Ok ok .. it works, you don't need to change it now. But if you want, i can order one for you for 150 rmb, pay now please.

On the stock filter box that came with the bike I had to use safety wire to hold the screws in place only after removing the filter two times, so I really don't want to buy the same shit again for 10 times the price.

Here are some photos of the filter I have now:

And here's what i found on taobao after many hours of searching. My gut tells me that Shineray bought air filter boxes and filters that are so shitty no one sells them anymore. So really, I might just be looking for something that doesn't exit if I keep looking for something that looks like the original. I found the original box in the local parts market in Kunming, but the filter it came with was a basically a sponge.

first one looks most promising, but has different fasnters so I can't use with the stock box.

I'm much better off If I can replace the box and the filter to something better. How do I know if the box fits my bike? If I can't buy a better box, I'll just replace the filter and get the same box for 30 rmb from the local market.

Any help appreciated, this is really giving me a headache.

Yeah, you have shit now. Appears to be common in chinabikes. You can hack it yourself and build some decent thing, or you can just stuff a piper air filter on the tube and lube the bottom of the box with motor oil. Bigger shit will drop on there and stick on the bottom too. Of the tiny shit you don't have to worry that much :D Or are ye thinking ye are gonna drive 100 000km with ye bike :D

Just be carefull to not let ye bike to drink water by the air filter box :D

A link below to an example of thing needed in cheap and ugly hack :D

That air filter looks pretty common, you could just match it by its size.

Then you could get long threaded screws and put them in through the back of the air box and use a nut to hold them in front. Drill through the plastic and then slide the screw into the hole then you could even use adhesive on the screw so it would be permanent. Instead of a hole to screw into you would then have the end of the threaded screw and then use a butterfly nut on it. The same could be done for the air box cover…long screws from the back with enough thread to reach the outside of the air box and then use butterfly nuts to hold it on.

The oval length and the height is what you should be matching, I believe the metal closed end then could be reused if the new filter has an open end. Is it impossible to buy online from vendors outside china? Or is the cost just not worth it?
