Oh in India the price will probably be 150,000 Rupees which is 22,000 RMB, also puts out 19KW and revs to 11,000 rpm, which is all similar to the Ninja. Also considerably more power than the YBR250.

India has import taxes, the Ninja 250R retail for 207,000R

    http://www.priceindia.in/bike/bajaj-...ja-250r-price/

The Ninja 250r India price converts to $4,659.00 USD or 30,116 CNY, the US only has a 2% duty so the difference between the US duty and that of India is the price difference reflected in the different real market prices. That is about 14% the difference in price in the US and India and about more or less the tariff difference.

I would say that the price point for the GW250 in India is under or at 30,116 CNY and higher in other markets like Brazil.

If the Ninja gets its engine out of a Kawasaki plant in Japan then it is apple to apple, or closer to that, it actually is about total cost compared to total cost. The Ninja coming out of Thailand…is it 100% Thai made? Is the YBR250 100% Chinese made….those details affect prices. There are other market forces too. They build and sell on margins and seek optimization.

Usually a 100% Indian made bike is a little more expensive than a comparable 100% Chinese made bike. Of course if a bike is imported into India from Thailand it is going to cost more.

Case study: If we take the Hero or Sundiro Honda CBF150, although in India it is slightly different, it sells for 95,000 Rupees (13,000 RMB), in India, but the Sundiro Honda version in China sells for around or just over 10,000 RMB.

Therefore if we get a Haojue or Qingqi Suzuki GW250 and it's 100% made in China, and going by past experience they usually only import Japanese bearings and maybe EFI units, although most likely nothing, Haojue or Qingqi Suzuki could feasibly be able to undercut the Jianshe Yamaha YBR250 significantly if they choose to.

So if your estimate is right and the Indian made Suzuki will sell for 200,000 Rupees (30,000 RMB) in India, it could still likely sell in China for 22,000-28,000 RMB. If what I read is correct and that the projected price in India, because it will be made there is actually 150,000 Rupees (22,000 RMB) then it is possible the Haojue or Qingqi version could feasibly be sold in China for 15,000-22,000 RMB, also remember that Suzuki have a long history of being very price competitive.

Obviously time will tell, and they may not sell the bike in China domestically if demand is high in more profitable markets, or they may push up the price to make more money or prevent 'grey imports'.

More importantly than anything to me is: "will I be able to buy a bike I like with that 19KW water-cooled EFI 250cc twin engine in it for a reasonable price in China sometime soon?"

If this bike does come out in China at a reasonable price then I think I might get one. If the YBR 250 was a twin then I might not have considered it. ZMC888 will get one first and let me know how it rides.
