New "scenic road" for Shanghai bikers

Hey guys,

I know Dan & Wrangler will go to the road on the 1st post, along the Dianshan lake this WE, but I will not be able to join you guys. I went there this morning and realized that the beginning of this road will be impossible to find : you need to go through single track roads to reach it, so I made a GPS track this morning and export it on a KML file.2011-07-28 1354__20110728_1354.kml

I hope you can check it before this WE. There's a major offset when using OruxMaps app on my HTC, unfortunately Google Maps (which is much more accurate) cannot record GPS tracks yet...

PM me if any question guys. And yes, when you'll get there, you will say to yourself that I really dig to find those roads...

5,000 km in a few months doing just that...

Did you go all the way to the Dianshan lake after that ?

Fred, got to thank you for this post. I absolutely loved this road and Dewsnap took me twice but I could never find my way back. Finally thought about digging up this post and with the map I can find my way back again.

After being to Moganshan this week, I'm in no hurry to go back to Dianshan lake... Feels pretty lame in comparison, but hey, that's what we got close to Shanghai...

This scenic road is along a river, under the shade of trees, and you can even stop for a picnic at some point, with benches and some rest areas just along the roads (look out for wooden stairs to find the place).

On the way back to Shanghai from Suzhou (lovely day and we took the long way back once again...) we were stopped at a road block (every motorised vehicle was stopped by a group of 10-12 cops) we had to show our driving license only, they did not ask us (1x Ducati / 1x BMW GS) for bike documents (license = blue book).
Just spreading the word......

So far I know there are three checkpoints along that area. One is in the middle of the road somewhere. One before you hit the huqingping hwy going north and one on the huqingping heading east back into SH.
