This is an old British fort from the Boer war circa. 1900. It's on the way from Cape Town to Springbok and located about 5 km's off the main road in the veld. BB1.jpg Outside view of the fort. BB2.jpg This is just after crossing the Namibian border, the gravel highways start almost immediately, stopped to deflate the tyres. I fitted a auxiliary power outlet and a small 12v compressor to the bike before I left. NAM0.jpg Cockpit BB3.jpg

On the way to the Ai-Ais hot springs. And my camp at the Hot Springs camp ground. I had just pulled up, hot as hell, when a fellow with a 4x4 camping on the site next door wondered over with an ice cold Windhoek Lager 'Here' he says 'looks like you could do with a frostie'

On the way to the Fish River Canyon. Namibia had massive rainfalls this summer so the roads had loads of soft sand in the low lying areas and was washed away in places.

I stopped at the Canyon Lodge for a late breakfast and as I was leaving the Cape Town BMW Club pulled up, they were on their way to the viewpoint and invited me to ride along with them.

Random pics. I did not take many photo's, I had no intention of putting together a ride report . Every couple of days I'd splash out and book into a lodge or cabin, do some laundry and have a decent hot shower.

Thanks, Felix. We're fortunate as adventure riders to have a backyard like Southern Africa to ride in, basically 30 minutes out of Cape Town you can get off the tar and stay off of it for literally thousands of km's if you wanted to. My son and I have just started talking about doing an extended trip through a few southern African countries late next year.

It's great to see pictures of another part of the world like this - it looks spectacular.. and really remote. Were there towns or villages through these areas? I'd love to see more! As an aside, if you're looking for tips on embedding images, this thread has lots of great info. Looking forward to reading your future posts!
