07-14-2011, 01:10 AMI am looking for a new front wheel for my Zhejiang xmoto 250. Mine appears bent...I was thinking maybe it was the spokes being loose, but after I tightened them up, the ride is smoother, but the front wheel still appears to wobble around.
I looked around for dual sport wheels, and I found very few. Will any dirt bike wheel of the correct size be able to go onto my xmoto with the front disc breaks?

07-15-2011, 02:32 PMShort update: If I buy a rim of the same size, would I be able to just transfer my spokes/brakes etc onto the new rim?

07-15-2011, 03:05 PMThis should work, as long as you get the identical rim. Otherwise, worst case you'd have to replace the spokes with a set of the appropriate length. It's the hub and rotor combination that mates with the brakes, but rims can be the same "size", meaning they take the same size tire, while still requiring a different spoke length due to different design of the rim. There should be tons of wheel-building resources on the web to help you make the right choices.
You'll love this resource.
Then there's this and this.
Good luck. Pictures please.jkp

Two things guaranteed to instill fear and misery in the minds of bikers:
1) Fixing a flat on the side of the road
2) Trying to respoke a wheel
I'd recommend you give this task a shot on some cheap bicycle wheel ... then, after wasting several weeks of your life trying to get it "true", reconsider whether you want to do it on your MC. Just remember, you are going to be zipping down the road & through curves at speed, on your home-built wheel on which you used an old cereal box as a truing device.
IMHO, this is one of those rare things best left to a pro with the proper equipment.
