    Hi everyone!

I am an English backpacker/budding travel writer, and on my latest trip I am looking to buy a motorbike in Vietnam and cycle all the way to Chengdu.

Does anyone know if I can get a Vietnamese bike over the border, and would I be able to sell it in China if that is the case?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Many thanks.

    Pete

Why not divide it to different bike in each country ie. buy the common local bike & sell it when u ends in each leg.
Vietnamese & SE asian country loves the bike styled as in Honda cub (horizontal/semi-auto).
U are illegal w/o chinese d/l, but nothing ventured, nothing gained
Naked bike are everywhere once u're China. Just buy the model that had front disc (ofen = pushrod machine jammed in Suzi body )
    Better buy "new", some used bike in China had very high-milage (8 yr - 300+k km "taxi" @ Liuzhou http://www.motoyes.net/BBS/thread-349880-1-1.html | 3 yr 330k Honda http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...authorid=73022 ) !!!

+1 to that. I think that's the best you can do. I was in Vietnam, I was told I could rent a motorcycle and give it back in another city.

Crossing from Vietnam to China is possible, some say, with a tour guide and a lot of $$ .. Much cheaper to buy a bike once you cross the border as HB is saying..
