New and still looking for a china bike in china....

Hi,

I have been working for 10 months in China and moved "down" with my family last month. Next step is finding a good all road bike. At home (in Belgium), I have a BT1100 Bulldog from Yamaha, but I used to have a honda Vigor 600 and Hona XL250 in the past.
Here in China, max legal is 250 so 250 it should be. I have been scanning the market (and still am). Discovered the Qingqi Liger QM250GY and it looks exactly what I need. I was a little bit scared about chinese bikes at first after a bad driving experience, but after reading some posts on this forum, I feel more secured about this particular bike.
Next thing will be: where to buy it, cause at a local shop, they were only selling the 150cc .... I live in Chengdu , so all help is welcome. We might even buy more then 1 since I'm here with a bunch of friends sharing the same interests.

If there are good alternatives to this specific bike.....feel free to comment.

Dear B-2,

Welcome to the forum, and looking forward to seeing what you find. Not sure where you heard there's a 250cc limit on bikes in China, which fortunately isn't true. There are not many choices of bikes above that displacement, they are available and can be legally plated and insured.

Don't be in any rush to buy. China is in a seriously weird transition period right now, with many 2010 model year bikes unable to be plated due to tightening emissions restrictions requiring bikes above 150cc to meet the tough China3 emissions standard. Many manufacturers are still scrambling to bring their new models into compliance, so there's a dearth of choice for new bikes.

Check out this thread if you want to know what's definitely available in under the C3 restrictions.

Checked out the C3 post, but couldn't find out if the Qingqi Liger QM250GY is now approved or not. Maybe I need to ask ChinaV, he seems to know a lot about this bike.
