It's model number JL50QT-21. She bought for $65 as a project from a friend. Well it has a new battery which is still good, had it checked and everything. Well I hooked the battery up and all the plugs are where they are supposed to go. Turned the key and got nothing, not even the brake light comes on like it is supposed to. It's my first 2-stroke scooter I have worked on, so I am a bit lost. We have no power with the battery hooked up and fully charged. The motor spins free with the kick start, so it's not locked up. But there is absolutely no power whatsoever once the key is turned. Unlike my scooter, you turn the key and the brake light comes on at least.

So I am lost and looking for any info that may help. I am going to pick up a new ignition switch, gas cap, and seat lock. I am hoping that will help. She needs a gas cap and side lock, so this is my main reason for getting it. If anyone has any idea what it might be, please let me know. I appreciate it.

    Dear MrPh,

Does she (the bike, not the GF) look like this:

Google turns up a surprisingly rich range of hits on that model number even without the Geely brand name. Seems there's a good amount of support available for that scoot:

    scootdawg forum link

    Nice maintenance manual

    An east coast dealer

    And an online parts house

How about posting up some pix (scoot AND GF)!

    cheers

Yes that is the one. And I have been looking around through Google with no avail as to what would be causing this problem. And since I am registered here, I figured I would ask the age old question.

A bit hard to diagnose with so little information. Think you need to go through the entire electrical system and check all connections.

    good luck!

Yeah. It's hard to start. All I have for now is everything is plugged up where it is supposed to. Battery id fresh off the charger. I turn the key to on and there are no lights or anything. So I am suspecting it is either the ignition or rectifier looking thing.

Barnone: The main fuse was fine. I even switched it with the one from my scooter, and still nothing.

    Kennon: The key is dry.

I am ordering the ignition as well as the other locks. It will take awhile for them to get here as they are coming in from China. But at least they are all brand new parts. I will keep you guys posted on that. I need to try and find another parts scooter to snatch some parts from.

how much did these parts cost?
thankfully iv only had this situation once with my supermoto and that was jsut the battery terminal being loose would be amazed how a fully charged battery could die in the few hours i was at work but it was just the connections not touching cause for thought always check over a mechanics handy work even if he was jsut fitting a new exhaust on

It was $33.44 with tax and shipping. That's a new ignition, side lock with the mechanism, a new gas cap and lock, and 2 new keys for the set. Not too bad for everything.
