I brought my telemark gear(skis on plane and freighted over boots and rest of ski gear) and plan on skiing the Tian shans this coming winter.

Wonder if anyone else is skiing in China ?

Would be good if someone else is back country skiing in Xinjiang.

We have some slopes with artificial made snow, I make a point of going every winter, once or twice. Real snow is too thin here for back-country adventures. Best run is a few hundred meters long, with the top 75-100 meters steep enough for something other than just learning. The other two are useless except for beginners.

Get in touch with Christoph, a swiss alpine skiing instructor and founder of Hiddenchina. I believe he'd love to ski some good adventurous and challenging slopes.

Was it expensive to ship? I have been looking for some new ski boots, but am looking for some suggestions for some quality Nordic boots.

I bought all my BC gear from GearX in Vermont,USA they shipped it to Australia .I bought the skis with me on the plane and shipped the boots to China. So yeah it was expensive to ship.

I would imagine there are plenty of nordic/BC shops in Colorado. If I had the luxury of a telemark shop close by in Australia I would have definitely gone and tried on some boots instore and purchased there.

    Dear Motogirl,

Interesting first post and welcome to MCM. Are you in Colorado or in China, or are you so fortunate as to be able to divide your time between both? (Envy.)

When not schussing through snow, what does motogirl ride, and where?

    cheers!
