worried about flats?

Came across this while reading an African RR.. http://www.nuetech.com/

Basically it's a slim inner tube that fits under your Enduro tire and makes it clamp to the rim. So it practically becomes a tubeless tire. From then on use regular tire sealant and forget about punctures. Also reduces rotating weight.



I'm not sure I understand the pricing though. 100$ includes what? both tubes? Because the liner and bladder are 11 and 36$ each.. Something doesn't add up here.

Anyway, a 100$ is peanuts if you get to ride anywhere and not worry about flats..

It looks similar to something MTB bikes tubeless use.Watch out if they burp. Pretty unpleasant experience.

I have these on my GasGas EC300 for second season now. Both front and rear. I like them. Don't even bother to use pressure gauge anymore, just press tires with my fingers like on my bicycle many, many years ago :) You have no problem to ride even without any air in the tire. Fixing punctures can be easily done using "fuses" (or whatever they are called). Even if the inner tube is flat too, you still have a rimlock, so you shouldn't have unpleasant experiences. The system is not intended for on-road use, though! Last, but not least, Nuetech customer support is excellent!!!

For 100$ per tire you get inner tube, liner (the pink thing), a rim lock with a valve (to inflate the tire), a metal plate to facilitate tire installation, instruction brochure and a bunch of stickers :) At least this is what I got some time ago.

Had problems only with the front one: one defect inner tube and one valve ripped off. The other thing I ran recently into also, was a large number of very, very small punctures, probably from thorns, in the front tire which made it go flat rather quickly. Maybe it was the age of the tire itself though, since it was about 2 years old (which is a lot for the sort of abuse they face!).

Sounds like it will make the Enduro guys very happy who are running trials tires on the back with tubes.How low pressure can you run? 8 psi ?

Actually this is how I run it this summer. 8 psi easily. Even 6. But at these pressures cornering is very wobbly! I've had a few "flower-picking" experiences because of that.

Why only for offroad use?

I think it's possible to do the same with ::

• correct size bicycle inner tube
• slick bicycle tyre, but I think it would be difficult to find the right size.
• latex rim tape or 3m amalgamating tape

But I would only do this if I have trouble ordering the kit from the US.

is the rim lock part of #2?

Anyway, the whole kit costs 99$. but for #1 and #2 total is $46.90.. so the $54 difference is for metal plate, instruction brochure and a bunch of stickers

The rim lock is part of #2. It's this gold-like looking bit on the pictures with a valve in it. I guess it's not included in the price of $35.95, but it's better to ask them. Like I said they are very responsive. No idea why is that price difference. Haven't done the math so far.

I just checked, and actually I bought my kits from http://www.mxsouth.com for a retail price of $89.96 :D :D :D That's about 10% cheaper! :D:D:D
