Ironically, in the US, we don't seem to buy too many of the Chinese-style bikes (i.e. Harley and big CC sports bikes). I think that manufacturers have to micro-market products, ie CFMoto getting a following with their automatic transmission scooters that look like full-size bikes. Smarter, older adults, often couples, bought them as learning tools to work their way up to larger Harleys (the American collective wet-dream), rather than ego-centric older adults who bought Harleys and learned the hard way that they are more powerful than they are! (with the resulting crashes and damaged bikes).

Skyteam has found its primary niche with street retro bikes such as the CT-70 replicas. If they are smart (and I have faith they are) they will introduce us to another niche bike in the form of the VanVan replica already seen all over Europe as teased by some of the members here and on Chinariders. In fact, they are about to enter another niche started primarily by Cleveland Cycle Werks with the retro Honda Dream replica.

I would love to see a company like the Benelli-QJ partership bring us their lineup, or at least a few bikes to tease us with. Unfortunately, as other companies have discovered the hard way, it does take dollars to penetrate the market unless you can get a grass-roots marketing effort, such as through forums, like Qlink did with the world-wide popular Qingqi enduro. It also takes a reasonably higher-quality product. And don't laugh at your customers

Right. It's segmentation that'll help them. Choose one direction/segment and try to become something in it. That's strategy. Strategy calls for resources. Needs a certain background. Unfortunately all those simple business concepts are what many of the Chinese grab-$-and-run companies don't get.
There are more: added value, product philosophy, USP...after all, when I buy a Harley I want to be a Person Who Rides A Harley. That's my self-image and it pleases me.
Chinese companies seem not to have proud QingQi riders. Not yet.

In south America it gets even more complex….in those markets they are also in partnerships with some actual manufactures that assemble vehicles.

These people are not all Chinese, QJB is an international company.

Their Super Light is very popular in many markets, comes in up to a 200cc version.
Here is one that was customized…

What is missing is a classic standard, but for me it has to have some height. Not as tall as a dual sport but taller then most current offerings, something a bit taller and longer. That’s missing from the market, for me and likely for others, many of us that want a smaller displacement bike end up getting a dual sport or a motocross standard. I like the Bonneville, but its not perfect for me, it looses the light and nimble feel and it is not big enough either it looks small. The CCW misfit….way too small, in person it looks dinky. The TU250 too small and also seems fat, in person it looks stout. That’s why I keep pointing to the Grasstracker BIGBOY.
It is not that it is just a standard, it is taller and longer and has a straight up and down ridding position.

TU 250 GB Grasstracker Bigboy 2002
    Overall Length: 2 135 mm (84.1 in)
Overall Width: 910 mm (35.8 in)
    Overall Height: 1 145 mm (45.1 in)
Seat Height: 785 mm (30.9 in)
    Wheelbase: 1 405 mm (55.3 in)
Ground Clearance: 200 mm (7.9 in)
Dry Weight: 127 kg (279 lbs)
    Engine type: Air-cooled 249 cc single cylinder, SOHC, 4 valves. 20 hp (15 kW)/ 7.500 rpm, 21 Nm (2,1 kg-m)/ 6.000 rpm.

It had the GN250 Engine in 2002,

That QingQi looks sweet! The tank is from JiaLing JH 125 aka "DaBaiCai", which is a dual-sport. All the rest looks pretty retro. I see lots of mod possibilities for this bike.

I have never seen one of the Qingqi trackers in person, but heard it looks puny. They sell those in the UK under Sinnis and are supposed to be offering a 250cc version eventually. The Bigboy version is a bit bigger then the standard Grasstracker. I suspect the Qinqi is smaller then both it has a 16” rear wheel, both versions of the Suzuki have 18” wheels and the Bigboy version is just…bigger.

    TU 250 G Grasstracker 2002 (standard version)
    Overall Length: 1 995 mm (78.5 in)
Overall Width: 900 mm (35.4 in)
    Overall Height: 1 130 mm (44.5 in)
Seat Height: 745 mm (29.3 in)
    Wheelbase: 1 325 mm (52.2 in)
Ground Clearance: 160 mm (6.3 in)
Dry Weight: 123 kg (271 lbs)
    Engine type: Air-cooled 249 cc single cylinder, SOHC, 4 valves. 20 hp (15 kW)/ 7.500 rpm, 21 Nm (2,1 kg-m)/ 6.000 rpm.

The tank on the Qinqqi is a Suzuki Tank from the DR200, look at the dual sport behind it, it the same gas tank.

Puny! New word for me! Thanks.

Yes, it appears to be... puny, but who cares?

iv seen the qingqi in person sold as the sinnis trackstar im only average UK height at 5'8 ~ 1.72m and sitting on the trackstar is like sitting on a very low stool it reminded me of my instructors Yamaha SR125 that i learnt to pass my motorcycle license on but thinner .
