I use Motul 5100 10w-40 runs decent, change every 3000km, i have reached 20,000km for a while... you need to change the factory oil quick, 1st change like 500km, it's crap they put it in.

but be really careful when replace the oil filter, contra to common sense, the hole must facing out... if you mix up oil flow direction, the result could be blown oil filter cap and possible more damage. so a pre warnning

I bough a few spare factory oil filter, both front and rear have rubber seal attached to.
    Tag on package it is
    -----------------
    Name BJ250-15
    part no. QJ172MM-A
    -----------------

    this side must facing out!!!

--Length 39mm, 44mm (both side rubber seal thickness include)
    --Diameter 45mm

    Thanks a lot!
With the bike i had become one piece of filter hf131. The dimensions are the same, but it has no rubbers seal). Do you think that the 2017 engine has another mount of filter?

I haven't open the cap yet. Maybe i can use old seals to the new filter.

And one more question: if i buy a 1liter of oil, will it be ok? Or must i have the 1.25...in this case i must buy this time two liters.

New bike should come with at least 1 year warranty, why use aftermarket filter? can you ride back to dealer and ask for your concern.
For my bike 1L of engine oil is enough, check the oil level in classic way for confirmation....
    Good luck...

I am a journalist, i have riden on the first registered BN251 in Poland.
I fall in love after 600km...i buyed new one from the importer, not from dealer.
I suppose this is the second imported BN251 to Poland. They sell this model since two weeks.
So i must do the service alone, but i have warranty ( they trust me :-) ).

I changed today the oil, the HF131 filter fits, but i had to use the rubber seals from the oryginal one, no problem with that.
I have drained out 1250ml of old oil, and i puted the same amount.

You had right, the oil after 500 km was black, and thanks again for the tip with the filter direction.

For eliminating the spongy brake I would consider a steelflex hose and also a brake fluid change including real good venting process. A friend of mine with a Benelli TRK 502 cured the same issue by that procedure successfully
